Taxes for DOWE5 ex-CAI
Hi,
After much planning I have recently submitted my first RTW request to British Airways Office, Cairo. The route is valid, and seats reserved etc ... which is great, and i was pleasantly surprised how quickly they were able to turn the pricing around (3 working days!) one thing that has surprised me though is that the taxes for the fare equate to about 22% of the total cost!
The base cost is EGP33,350 as per the latest qantas *.pdf price file published on here, and the taxes a further EGP7750! -> I was under the impression that taxes would be circa 10%?
Is there anybody who has recently booked a ticket ex-CAI able to clarify whether this level of tax is indeed too high, or whether it is correct?
Thanks in advance

The taxes are related to which ariports and countries you fly through and differ if you are transiting as opposed to stopping over. Perhaps you are stopping in expensive places? Or lots of them?
I just ticketed through AA affiliate in CAI on an AONE4 and taxes were 2706 EGP, which is 6.6% on top of base fare.
You could look at this site and do some calcs of your own.

You will need to fire up your favourite currency conversion site though. It is an Aussie web site.

It really depends on your destinations and airlines. I assume your DONE5 includes Australia which has high tax and QF has high fuel surcharges. Adding Australia using QF could easily add A$350+ to the tax with a large portion of it being fuel surcharges. QF fuel surcharge is A$60 per sector for longhaul and is being raised to A$75 on 9/2/05.
