Reissuing a Oneworld Explorer ticket in SCL
From time to time I read here about how difficult it can be to get a OWE reissued in SCL. Since I'm sort of SCL based this bugs me. Today I had time to kill so I went to talk about this problem to someone at AA in SCL. Here's what I can report:
AA is very aware of the hassles we have to put up with and how uncooperative other OW ticket offices here can sometimes be. The good news is that I have been assured, on a personal basis, that AA is both willing and able to handle reissues here, at either of the two AA ticketing offices that exist in Santiago. My personal opinion, however, is that you don't go to AA's downtown ticket office, which tends to be rather busy; go instead to AA's best kept little secret office here in SCL, located in El Bosque, 0107 (near Apoquindo Av.), a smaller, *very* friendly and most capably staffed office, with extended business hours, including saturday (no phone calls).
My contact there has promised me that next time you say the two usually dirty words 'OWE' and 'reissue' you will be met with a friendly smile and efficient service.

Not SCL-specific, but in general if one needs to do a reissue in a city where the original issuer is unrepresented, how big a deal is it? In particular, will AA touch a BA-issued ticket?

2 years back I needed to reissue in SCL because a delayed GRU-SCL flight meant missing my connection to North America and all my onward connections the next few days in The States. Even though it was an LA flight delay they didn't have a clue/the interest/the ability to do a reissue.
I went to AA's little office at the airport (it was a week-end) and they had it all sorted and reissued painlessly within 20 mins.
