airline routes from a city

in planning the MR portion of a RTW, how does everyone figure out what are the nonstops from a certain city/airline?

for eg. i know that if i can get to ANC, i can maximise my miles flown. aside from trial and error, how would one find out what the nonstops are from ANC?

1) The Oneworld Timetable.

OR

2) The Validator. Read about it here.

Non-stops from a city I can find, but is there a way to see non-stops and DIRECT (single flight number, one stop) routes?

Yes, the Validator will show you both, but if you are asking about a way to identify ONLY direct flights with one stop (that is, excluding the non-stops) then the answer is that there is no way that I know.

Check the AA PDF timetable (www.aatimetable.com/aa.pdf).. it will show you all flights from a city and if the flight is direct or not. The QF, BA and CX timetables also shows # of stops on a flight.

EI only has a few, and usually it's DUB-SNN-XXX or v.v.
LA has many direct flights
AY has a few (via BKK) and internal
IB has several, usually involving BCN-MAD-XXX (these usually are direct flights with a change of equipment). Also some interesting ones MAD-LPA-DKR
