DONE4 in 2 parts?
Hi all... bit of a newbie here so forgive anything that may have been answered recently, however, I have searched the forum with with no luck!
I am looking at purchasing a DONE4 fare here in Oz before the Oct 10 price increase.
Is it possible to somehow take the fare as two 'trips' ?
I am based in BNE and plan to visit MNL & LHR after Xmas this year.(Depart late Dec, return mid Jan).
Then in March 2005, I have planned a trip (from BNE) to TPE, FLL & MSY that will last 15-20 days.
I was thinking about purchasing in BKK, however, in Oz, the $9,169.00 fare would be $8,335.00 before GST (tax deductible!)
...the BKK fare seems to be around AU$6,600 and you have to get there and back.
I'd love to hear some tips from seasoned OWE flyers!
Cheers

Won't work I fear
You can do a DONE4 in multiple stages, but it does make planning more difficult. In your case, it's not going to work though. Your continent order is (SWP)-Asia-Europe-(SWP)-Asia-US. If you buy your RTW in BKK, the first SWP won't be a problem, but you're still stuck with the fact that you want to make two Asian stopovers (MNL and TPE) while visiting Europe inbetween. That's not a valid routing in any case. So you're going to have to either rearrange the order of your visits, or you're going to be stuck buying separate tickets.

You could do it with 2 overlapping RTWs, if you've got the time/money/interest.
The first RTW begins in Oz in January, and you start out going Oz to BKK. Now you buy and begin your 2nd RTW (the 1st is still active, as a layover in BKK).
The 2nd RTW begind in BKK, goes to MNL and then to LHR. At this point, if you have the time, you could take side trips to Dubai or wherever, then on to North America and then back to Brizzy. In March, you complete the 2nd RTW by going from BNE to BKK, where you resume the 1st RTW. The 1st RTW then goes to TPE and your stops in the US before heading to Europe and then home (without stopping in Asia).

Anyway, the difference in price (ex BKK) is pretty big! But to get to BKK, i guess you have to pay around 4000AUD for a return ticket, so unfortunately this won't work as well as the European countries.
I think I will still stick with the 8900AUD far e(well will be 9400AUD by the time I finalise and pay)

Levies and other tax = fully exempt! Aust is bad enough already in the taxation area!
Also because the SERVICE (air travel) is technically provided overseas and not consumed in the country (for International flights) hence no GST = applicable. If you want specific legislation reference please let me know!
