Looks like *A is likely to be rolling out mileage upgrades across all members .
That would definitely be an advantage over OW. What's the likelihood that OW will match? (I fear I know the answer

oneworld's been losing out for years now. a lot of media hype and marketing, very little substance. wouldn't be surprised if it is dissolved sooner or later.

The most important advantages to me regarding OW vs. Star is the lounge benefits (First Class entry) and the airlines involved (CX/BA/QF/AA/LA are the top airlines in their regions, IMO). Star definately has better coverage and more partners.
