Open Segment, but no flights?

I'm planning a LONE5 starting in Australia in Jan 05. I won't get to Sth America until Sep 05. Question is, if I have an open segment for say EZE-LAX (currently LA600 is the only flight that fits the bill), what happens is the flight no longer operates by the time Sep 05 comes around?

Thanks in advance.

well if you booked it will be up to the airline to sort it out for you.
same as any booked tickets.
but if you leave it open and /or you re-route then they will expect you to take it out of your ticketing allowance - as you wouldn't have a firm seat and therefore would be told when you go to book it..
