OW Crediting dilemma

I'm usually a Star Alliance guy, but for various reasons I've found myself flying a lot of paid J on oneworld carriers over the last 8 months. I haven't credited those flights anywhere yet, and I'm trying to figure out which program would be best. Here are the miles and fare buckets:

October 2024
  • 9452 miles in QR P class operated by QR
  • 1575 miles in QR P class operated by CX
  • 3673 miles in QR P class operated by MH
December 2024
  • 1132 miles in AA R class operated by AA
January 2025
  • 7112 miles in AY I class operated by BA
  • 5974 miles in JL I class operated by JL
  • 6025 miles in AY I class operated by AY
April 2025
  • 732 miles in JL I class operated by AA
  • 15600 miles in JL I class operated by JL
  • 1539 miles in CX P class operated by CX
May 2025
  • 1199 miles in QF I class operated by AA
  • 17213 miles in QF I class operated by QF
  • 592 miles on JQ (class unclear) operated by JQ
  • 2085 miles in QF T class operated by WS
I'm trying to decide if I should credit to AA or QF. I think AA would give me slightly more points, but with QF I would qualify for Platinum status (oneworld Emerald). I do have a few questions that I need expert help with.
  1. The AA earning page suggests that JL I earns 250% of miles flown (100% base + $150 cabin bonus). Is that correct?
  2. If I had credited my October - January flights to AA, I would have earned Gold status. If I credit these flights now, will I get retroactive Gold status? It really affects how many miles I earn for the April and May flights if I'm Gold or not starting after March 1.
  3. It looks like I need 4 QF/JQ segments to qualify for QF status, and I didn't get these until May. If I submit my May flights first and hit QF Bronze, would I get the bonus miles for flights flown before May but submitted later? It would be annoying to fly 100,000 oneworld miles but not qualify for any bonus because I didn't fly QF segments until the end.
  4. How do people rate the relative value of AA vs. QF points? Am I better earning more AA miles even if I don't get the Emerald status?
Thanks!

Have you checked the retro credit rules for each ffp?
Were you a member of those ffp's at the date of flights or X days after the date of the flights?
Non alliance code shares will be very problematic. Need to check the ffp rules and fare booking class carefully.
With QF only get status bonus earnings for flights taken after getting that status.

Qantas Points will be added to your account for eligible flights within 14 days of the flights. To claim missing points for travel on eligible flights within the past 12 months, simply login to My Account. Be sure to have your flight details handy - they can be found on your e-ticket or boarding pass. Please note, reviewing the claim can take up to 24 hours for Qantas flights and 14 days for partner airlines.

You must be a Qantas Frequent Flyer to earn and use Qantas Points. A joining fee may apply. T&Cs apply. Qantas Points are earned on eligible Qantas, Jetstar, oneworld member and oneworld connect airlines only, on flights flown after the Member's joining date and up to 30 days prior to that date. Qantas Points may not be earned on some fare types and booking classes.

Firstly some of those earlier flights may be ineligible for retro credit as they may be time barred.

Also you are only looking at one side of the equation - the earnings side.

It's no good just looking at that insolation withour also considering the spend side and the cost in points and cash of redemptions,

And you have provided no context in how you earned these points - route etc - in the past and in the future - as that will also help determine which programme might be best for you.

And you have also included two non One World Airlines - AI (Air India) and WS (WestJet) and whilst they may have individual partnerships with individual OW airlines it doesn't mean the points on flights operated by them will be accepted by every OW airline into their programme.

From the OP's other locked thread in AA forum -- Crediting dilemma by S80
I'm going to presume your math is correct, and that you can actually retroactively credit each ticket. Keep in mind that AA's status year is static, March - February the following year (so flights flown before then wouldn't count for status, I believe, since it's been so late in posting). Qantas is based on when you joined the program, you'd be better off posting in their forum asking about backdated status if that's what you're going for.

1: Yes, that is correct.
2: I don't believe so, I believe they give 1 months grace period for status posting.
3: That's a question better suited for the QF forum
4: Where are you based, where will you use the points to fly, and in what class? It's all subjective. AA points will be more readily available to be used on AA, QF on QF. QF also partners with EK, for example, if you fly them. QF is also a transfer partner of Amex and Capital One, so you can combine your miles there for redemptions, whereas AA does not have any transfer partners.
