Iberia I segment on BA reservation, no seat selection?
Have a LHR-MAD segment, booked into I, coming up, and cannot select a seat without the €15 fee. Checking Iberia, it cryptically mentions “if your fare does not include seat selection”, is there anywhere that explains what fares these are? Honestly, it’s pretty irrelevant, but every other segment with BA and AA (all in I) I have seats selected, is it just that a) Iberia is churlish b) Iberia hates the DUB-XXX-MAD trick c) Iberia’s IT is worse than BA’s and AA’s?

Yes, IB flight with BA codeshare...
Don't have Iberia app, not really looking to add it to my AA and BA app, but if it's the best choice...
No status, yet. Will be Ruby via AA in a week or two, and Sapphire within three months, or just before the flight. I'm asking now because it seems obtuse and unintuitive.

ah ok.
re: churlish/obtuse/unintuitive
IB does not give free advanced seat selection to the cheapest biz tickets (known as optima)
https://www.iberia.com/es/clases-tarifas/business/
15eur is 1% of your fare, so take it or leave it until 24 hours when it becomes free
