SFO-BHX: Impossible on OW??

Am I missing something, or is it impossible to fly on OW metal to the UK's second largest city, Birmingham??

I am seeing BA codeshares on EI, SFO-DUB-BHX. But as AA PLT, I don’t think I would get any benefits on that ticket except maybe preferred/advanced seat selection on BA.com.

What am I missing?

Hello malcolmkettering,

The oneworld® benefits section at the bottom of this page outlines the benefits you get on OW airlines:

From wikipedia no Oneworld airlines at BHX-
-->https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birmingham_Airport
-->https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...United_Kingdom

-->Great Circle Map
Guess too close to other airports and UK trains.

EI is not a OW airline

Nothing. It appears that BHX is not currently served by BA or any other oneworld carrier:

Public transportation from LHR to Birmingham is available; takes about three hours, according to Google Maps.

Thanks for confirming.

Also not finding any AA metal to MAN either. This is turning into a wipe-out.

AA closed operations in MAN in 2020.
AA closes operations at KEF, MAN, PRG and postpones VCE to 2022

Thank you. Depressing. Making my idea of a trip to Wales on OW more costly and complicated 🤨 It's a shame EI never rejoined OW as planned; there's a great routing SFO-DUB-BHX/BRS.

BA does codeshare on DUB-BHX/BRS and these codeshares will work as BA flights for avios and tier points.

Yes, I've seen that. I am AA PLT though so I don't think I would get any OW Emerald benefits with that routing aside from maybe preferred/advanced seating on BA. No DUB lounge, etc.
