Visiting CMB on ex-NRT DONE5
I'm planning my 2019 DONE5 and wanted to visit Colombo, Sri Lanka. Can I route via DOH for Asia to Australia if I also wanted to visit Europe later? I'm thinking not, due to rule (4)(e) "Only one intercontinental departure and one intercontinental arrival permitted in each continent".
So, an itinerary such aswould be invalid, and I'd have to do
Going via DOH would be more miles and probably a nicer flight.
(BTW, I plan on buying MIA-GCM-MIA on my own, to conserve segments.)
So, an itinerary such as
nrt-kul-cmb (stop) cmb-doh-adl (stop) adl-per (stop) per-syd (stop) syd-dfw-san (stop) san-dfw-mia (stop) mia-lax-lhr (stop) lhr-doh-jnb (stop) jnb-hkg (stop) hkg-nrt
nrt-kul-cmb (stop) cmb-hkg-adl (stop) adl-per (stop) per-syd (stop) syd-dfw-san (stop) san-dfw-mia (stop) mia-lax-lhr (stop) lhr-doh-jnb (stop) jnb-hkg (stop) hkg-nrt

instead? This routing seems to be valid.
BTW, you can fly NRT-CMB with UL's direct non-stop flight '4 flights per week). It saves one segment.

(a second visit to Europe/Middle East is allowed, but only in conjunction with travel to/from Africa)
The reason your itinerary is invalid is because it violates this rule
4(b) Travel must be in a continuous forward direction between TC1 - TC2 - TC3.
...
...
TC is Asia plus South West Pacific
and your itineray would be TC3(CMB)-->TC2(DOH)-->TC3(ADL)

Your itinerary would be invalid, but not for the reason you stated.
