Star Alliance offers to match status
I couldn't see a thread on this topic in OneWorld - but it is over in the Star forum.
Essentially, if you are a UK resident, Star will match your silver or gold status from any other non-star programme or alliance.
You can choose which of the star carriers (barring SQ and Mexicana) that you wish to join.
You also receive international upgrade certificates (only valid on Y B and H economy fares from the looks of it, and from C and D fares).
The link, operated by Star Alliance, for more info is:
www.ukstatus.co.uk
Apologies if this has already been posted.
Regards
WG

Hey thanks for this LHR/MEL etc.! My long Dutch nightmare is about to come to an end and I was just about to take up UA on their offer of a match to Prem EX, but this will get me a handful of somewhat-useful upgrades to boot. Nice!
Now I just need a UK address.

Yes it's for UK residents only - but looking at other Forums it's amazing the number of FT'ers in other countries who have a UK address.
Do any of you think that Oneworld will respond to this offer and try to poach some Star Elites?
Cheers
Alan

Thank you for your reply.
This offer is very interesting. But I don't have the address in UK. I think many Star elite is born using this Offer.
My acquaintance wants the Star elite. But he cannot join. I hope the same offer to come in Japan.
thanks

What status will they give to BA Silver (oneworld sapphire) members, as looking at the benefits it clearly equates to Star Alliance Gold but I fear they'll just give out Silver for Silver - anyone know?
