need some help / departing ex CAI
Hi, to all OW-travelers here !
Iám not firm with the OW fares ex CAI !
So I want to ask for some help here .
Iam planing a trip AUG/SEP 6 weeks.
It has to include CPT and BKK and it would be nice if there are not much extra costs, that SYD/AKL are in there.
If the longhaul flights are on BA/CX , "D" class would be ok ( I want a bed ) .
We are 2 adl. + 2 kids.
Is SA in OW ??? or do they join them soon ?
I thought about something like that :
CAI(BA)-LON(BA)-CGN.S.(BA)-LON(BA)-CPT.S.(??)-JNB(QF/SA)-SYD.S.(QF)-CNS.S.(QF)-BNE.S.(QF)-AKL.S.(CX)-HKG(CX)-BKK.S.(BA)-LON(BA)-DUS.S.(BA/IB) anyhow back to CAI !
.S. after 3letter code should indicate a stop longer than 24 h.
I dont´t need all stops in Australia ( only if possible with no extra costs )!
I have seen that the fares with IB are cheaper than with BA / AA / CX ! Why is that ?
thanks for yoou help.

This is not an around the world trip because you do not cross either the Atlantic or Pacific oceans. It could be a Circle Indian Ocean trip (Europe-Africa-Asia-Europe), however, it violates a number of rules for that trip. You can only have six total stopovers and a maximum of two per continent.
You could convert this to a four continent RTW trip by adding in North America say BKK-HKG-LAX-LHR. You need to reduce your segments in Europe to a maximum of four with no more than two stopovers if you do this.
Note that there has been a report that fares ex-CAI are going up substantially next week so you may want to wait a bit to see what happens.

So the trip is no RTW, but I read that with OW there are 3 or 4 kontinent fares ! What is the main difference ? milage , stops , stransfers .... ?
I saw a DONEWC4 for 17990 EGP in D with IB
As I understand this may have 4 continents!
Origin CAI counts as Europe !
not more than 6 SO in total !
max 2 SO each kontinent !
If that is ok, may be the following would be ok ?
CAI(BA)-LON(BA)-CGN 1.Stop in Europe
CGN(BA)-LON(BA)-CPT 1.Stop in Africa total 2
CPT(??)-JNB(QF)-SYD(QF)-CNS 1.Stop SWP total 3
CNS(BA)-BNE(QF)-AKL 2.Stop SWP 4 total
AKL(CX)-HKG(CX)-BKK 1.Stop Asia 5 total
BKK(BA)-LON(BA)-DUS 2.Stop Europe 6 total
DUS(BA/IB) anyhow back to CAI !
I have 6 SO , max 2 SO in each kontinent !
going from Europe-Africa-SWP-ASIA-Europe !
Origin and ending in CAI !
Is this ok ?

This looks OK. The DONEWC4 is the Circle Indian Ocean fare. You mention that you are traveling with two kids. There are some pretty long trips in your itinerary (>15 hours) that you might be able to break up by picking flights that are not direct connections but leave within 24 hours, thus not counting as a stopover.
The continent based fares you mention are the around the world (RTW) fares. They allow up to 20 total segments and a maximum of four segments in each continent, except North America where you get six total. The only stopove limit is in the continent of origin (Europe) and that is two. As mentioned previously, these require you to cross both the Atlantic and Pacific once and only once in a forward direction. Thus, you could do a four continent DONE4 ticket: Europe-Africa-SWP-Asia-North America-Europe. The current fare, ex-CAI, for this trip is EGP23320.
For your proposed trip, if you can buy a DONEWC4 ex-CAI for EGP17990 that looks like a much better deal. Again, a report states that the price is going up on Monday.
Good luck.

I would like to know, where I can buy it ?
Is it like the *RTW´s , if you buy them outside the country of origin, let´s say in Germany, you always pay the higher fare, as departing in Germany ? If so, is it possible to buy the EGP fare in Kanada ? If yes, any TA known to work with, he should use AMADEUS, that I can Queue him my own reservation.
thanks

The EGP fare is only applicable if the ticket is purchased in Egypt. The same rules that apply to RTWs apply here regarding the price being the higher of the country of origin or the country of sale.
If you are looking at a fare from IB and the fare from BA is higher then I suggest you deal directly with IB. Otherwise, you can ticket with AA, BA, or IB, all of which have offices in CAI.

Looks OK except for segment 12, SYD-CNS. You are leaving SYD an hour before you arrive from JNB. You can either overnight in SYD and leave on 28 July or take a later flight to CNS on 27 July.
Edited to add -
I notice that you are holding confirmed status on these flights. As you are probably aware, that will go away if you do not enter a valid ticket number in the PNR.

It's four within each continent. The change in the rules you are reading was meant to be read as removing DI (Deutsche BA?) from the list of allowed carriers. The segment limitation still applies. You therefore have way too many segments in Europe.
You can see CX's published version of the rules here:
http://www.christen.demon.co.uk/CXRule/

There appears to be a substantial difference between the CX rules christep has referenced and the rules UserMark has posted from the AA * file here. Specifically, the CX rules allow more stopovers in each continent (no more six total with a max of two per continent) but segments per continent are now restricted as are the destinations from LHR.
The CX rules appear to be more current (they use L class for economy fares), however, you might try to ticket under the old rules with someone other than CX and see what happens.
