re: Oneworld Mileage Bonuses

Does anyone know if their are any promos out there these days as there were several years ago not long after the inception of the Oneworld alliance, whereby you got 50,000 or 100,000 mile bonuses depending on how many OW carriers you few in a designated period of time? I did the promotion they had in place several years ago, but got summarily screwed out of 50,000 miles by BA EC who told me I had flown Iberia in a class code
that didn't qualify for the promo, and thus was one carrier short! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
BA EC and their technicalities...ugh.

Was just wondering if there were any current promos out there where you could amass a sizeable amount of mileage without having to spend a fortune or be in the air constantly?

If I had known what kind of a program BA EC was before I joined, I would have kept all my miles with AA !!

you always have to change before you purchase a ticket to see whether that booking class is eligible for mileage accrual. under every FFP, whether it's oneworld or star or skyteam or any other airline, there's always fineprint at the bottom saying mileage accrual only on eligible booking classes. most airline websites have a chart telling you which booking classes for which of its airline partners are eligible for mileage accrual. you should check them out first...

Well, I thought I *had* checked, but BA deviated from the class codes listed for Iberia in their Exec. Club printed guide that year, which really pissed me off. Sounded like they were trying to loophole their way out of giving me the full 100,000 mile bonus. Live 'n learn, I guess, is the lesson here - too bad BA has now restructured their FF program in such an unfavorable way (total devaluation of miles already being held), that now they are very likely going to lose tons of passengers' loyalty to other carriers (and that includes MY loyalty)...

I was in the situation as you. BA EC Canada changed IB M fare eligibility to none sometime in early October or November 1999. I managed to argue with them to give me the 2 flights and then to give me the bonus balance of 50,000. It took me until the 1st anniversary of the IB flight.

I was caught in the same situation as FTowfan (see above post). Checking wouldn't have helped at the rules changed - and the change wasn't publicised anywhere. Similar topic being discussed in the AS forum as BA apparently didn't give any advance warning about reducing discount economy earning percentage until after it happened.

And hey, it's BA we're talking about. Not the most-advanced carrier, at least on the web.
