DONE4 routing rules questions

I am planning my itin and have the following:

SYD-BNE
BNE-MEL
MEL-LAX
LGB-BZE
BZE-DFW
DFW-LAX
LAX-JFK
JFK-ORD
ORD-LAX
LAX-LHR
LHR-IST
IST-LHR
LHR-DXB
DXB-LHR
LHR-SIN
SIN-HKG
HKG-NRT
NRT-MEL
MEL-SYD

1. I understand the continent of origin 4 segs 2 stopovers rule - but is there a limitation on doing all continent of origin segs either at start or end - or can I split them between start and end as above?

2. My start point is SYD. But the NRT-MEL seg is one flight number (QF22) but stops in SYD. Does that mean as soon as I get to SYD my trip is over OR bc it's one flight number I am not considered to be going through SYD on that seg?

3. Any other problems you can see?

1. You can split the segments at the beginning and end of the trip but...

2. When you land in SYD, your trip is over. You cannot continue past your point of origin.

3. I do not see any OW flights direct from LGB to BZE.

Based on some other FT posts regarding long single flight number AA sectors I had wanted to book LGB-BZE AA2176. But it seems their new timetable from Jul 1 has wiped out that flight. There goes Belize.....

But I did find another gem - SNA-YUL AA764 - and YUL is not included in the transcontinental limitation......

Are you sure? I show AA764 as operating RNO-ORD-YUL -- at least currently that is what it does.

I disagree on that one. I accept that the rules could be interpreted that way, but about two years ago I had a DONE3 starting in HKG which finished by going LHR-MNL-HKG on BA. The LHR-MNL included a transit at HKG. I had absolutely no problem getting this ticketed or using it. (And BA gave me an op-up LHR-MNL I remember )

Yup. Upon further reflection, I don't feel that good about my answer either. As SYD does not show up on the NRT-MEL segment, it will probably fly (no pun intended).

You basically flew LHR-MNL-HKG. The transit stop is permitted as a transit only requiring you to fly straight on to MNL. RTW ticketing would not have allowed you to physically get off at HKG enroute to MNL and continuing on to another flight. ie you couldn't have done: LHR-x/HKG-MNL-HKG
