Honeymoon on Iberia
I'm going to Italy for my honeymoon (I can't believe it's only 6 weeks away!), flying Iberia to Venice via Madrid in business class (AA reward tickets). Any advice on how to get from business class to first class? Is there a way to acquire upgrade certificates or sweet-talk an agent? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Actually, I'm more concerned about the JFK-MAD segment. Sorry I wasn't clear.

Sweet talk the agents by all means but I think you'll find that IB doesn't have an F cabin on intra-European routes. Happy honeymoon.</font>

If you speak Spanish and strike a rapport, good luck. If not, be happy with your existing seats. Remember, it's the Hispanic vote which will be the decider in the US next election... [but now I'm off-topic]

The "we are on our honeymoon" line ranks no.1 in the most overused line when trying to beg for an upgrade.
To be honest, if you were on paid business tickets , you might have a slim chance, however if you are on Award tickets, you have virtually no chance.

My one time asking IB for a special favor, flying BCN-ORY, they were among the nicest I have seen in granting the request. My ancient mom was travelling steerage while we were in business (on RTW tickets). They were kind enough to let her sit with us although they served her a steerage meal which actually I preferred to the Business meal.
