OneWorld Around-the-World Tickets
Any new thoughts or insights on planning around-the-world travel? I have done 3 ATW fares in B/C, 2 originating in Italy, one in Spain. Four continents were about $4,300.00, but now have gone up.
I understand now NZ or Sweden may be cheaper place to orginate.
Ticket I got 3/02 originating in FCO was ticketed and issued here in USA. I now understand that new rules require ticketing in country of orgin.
Any comments?

One exception applies - you can have AA, for example, reserve the ticket/flights for you and give you the locator reference. You then arrive in the city of departure (in your example FCO) and confirm/pay for the ticket at the AA desk there & at the Italian rate.
2. For cheapest rates see : http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum83/HTML/001315.html In EUR one of the cheapest places is GIB.
Hope this helps

My Canadian agency contact has just advised me that they have lost that agreement with a particular Oneworld carrier all of a sudden!
So no more SOTO tickets at originating country prices for Oneworld Explorer tickets in USA and Canada. The USA though still has one loophole which I shall keep secret to myself and my clients.
