OWE - Cheapest point of origin

I've been scanning http://members.shaw.ca/fewmiles/oneworld/owe-fares.html but it doesn't seem to be that utd. Anyone know where the most cost effective points of origin are and have any travel agent suggestions for booking?

I just bought a 5 cont from AUCKLAND and it probably is the simplest and cost effective OWE fare

Thanks RTW. My intention too. Which NZ travel agent did you use, or did you just use an airline and pick up tix in NZ?

While New Zealand continues to have very good pricing you need to watch currency conversions. The Kiwi dollar has increased in value over 30% in the last year which has increased the costs of OWE tickets ex Auckland substantially. Using this morning's currency rates a 5 continent First Class OWE would cost in USD:

NZ 7170
Australia 7384
Canada 8243
USA 9700

Are you sure the NZ$-price is correct? This puts it almost 2000USD below what I paid for a 4 continent OWE in Business class.

Read it again - all of the prices are converted to USD.

Excellent point. Much of the run-up was due to large capital inflows into NZ to fund some corporate acquisitions. These are mostly over now (even QF appears to have fully hedged its acquisition cost for Air NZ) and the drying up of these inflows will cause a free-fall of the NZ dollar. I'd be surprised if it does not drop 25% by March 2003 ... something to keep in mind when buying tickets. But predicting currency moves is a dangerous game, nothing is certain and the fundamentals are not always the driving factor. Or new fundamentals can surface, particularly for such a small economy (the county of Los Angeles has a bigger budget than the government of NZ).

I have done several around-the-world one world fares in business class. I have one for 4-continents in B/C originating in Rome which is $4,575.00. I believe I did one 2 years ago originating in Madrid for about $4300.00 US.
