New To Me....
Was talking to the RTW desk about adding two segments onto my 4 continent OWE ticket...found out that, in addition to the fee for the segments you also must pay a $75 fee for a change of itinerary. Seems odd to me (as you are adding onto an itinerary, not making a new one), but there it is.

Absolutely standard - all changes of routing are US$75 or thereabouts. Previously you could find places that wouldn't bother to collect the fee (e.g. BA at LHR T4) but that doesn't happen so much these days. They don't always bother to collect the extra tax/airport charges though, which I think is what they claim the US$75 goes towards.

Ahhh. But AA-SABRE has implemented a system called T-REX. It requires a fee when reissuing a ticket that requires one. Or else it won't print out the ticket.
The agent MAY override it. But his/her name is on the line as to why the fee isn't collected when persued by the ticketing department.
Basically that's what you're doing. You are CHANGING the routing of the original ticket, hence the change fee.
