Looking on itn.net and another system I use, there appears to be no A or D inventory on JFK-LAX or JFK-SFO. It is either P or J. There are some QF codeshares on JFK-LAX that give A or D but none on JFK-SFO. The same applies to certain MIA-LAX flights.
Is there a way around this?

I plugged in JFK-SFO on 9/23 and the system indicated that there was A and D class availability. One of the options was JFK-LAX-SFO which also showed availability. in A and D.

It isn't accidental ... AA prefers to keep the seats empty rather than offer A/D fares on certain flights. Some do have historical last-minute demand for full premium fare. It varies by day of week/month as well as specific flight (time of day). Usually no last-minute availability on the really desirable flights. <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by Gaza:

AA does not usually show their A and D seats on their availability displays on certain routes.
The reservation would have to "drill down" to see the availability.
ie. type 106AUGJFKLHR-A in order to see A class displayed, or 106AUGJFKLHR-D in order to see D class displayed.
or they could book the flight in "A" class by typing 0AA100A7AUGJFKLHRNN1, OR "D" class by typing 0AA100D7AUGJFKLHRNN1 etc.
So whenever a booking class is not displayed on itn.net, don't assume it is not available on that flight. The only way to find out would be to call AA or have access to a reservations terminal.
