CAI and JNB on OWE?
Africa is an obvious weakness in the OneWorld system, and it's even more pronounced in the OWE fare.... I am trying to plan a trip on OWE than let's me go to both CAI and JNB... it seems that regardless of where you start, it's practically impossible to hit both those cities with one ticket. Since there are no direct flights between the two cities, you can only connect through London or Madrid... meaning that you will need 2 intercontinental departures from Europe.. Anyone have any ideas on how to get to both places? I really can't think of any ideas myself....

Unless I'm mistaken CAI is considered Europe (for OWE purposes, I know it's on the African continent geographically). Shouldn't be a problem going to both CAI and JNB on a >= 4 continent OWE. (You will, however, have used up your Middle Eastern touchdown by going to CAI so it precludes a mileage-turnaround at DXB or MCT).</font>

What's odd is that Sudan is considered as part of Europe/MidEast for the fare zones, but the only OW flights to Khartoum are from Nairobi. Plenty of places you can't get to in Africa now with the OWE fare, especially now that MRU is out as well.

You can see the Oneworld Explorer brochure, including continent maps, at:
http://www.fichters.net/oneworld.htm
This shows the African countries which belong to Europe/ME for OWE.

South African Airways would have made a very nice OW partner, especially for OWEs. CX and I believe QF already code share with SAA.
AA used to have a relationship with SAA but Delta displaced AA when SAA joined SkyTeam.
I can't think of any other African carriers that I would risk my life on voluntarily...
