New OW Website

There is a new website at www.oneworld.com that will allow you to book and ticket your own F and J seats on oneworld carriers. I just read this in the computer at work tonight and haven't actually taken a look at it.

Apart from the shorter URL, it appears to be exactly the same as the 'old' Oneworld site!

The booking area is new though.

So its not a new website, just a new feature. Hopefully with better stability than aa.com of course.

I remember when oneworld first started I tried to get to the web site by using www.oneworld.com and ended up at a site for charity with the same name. I guess they coughed up to get the domain name - wonder what happened to the charity?

I don't think I will be booking too many fares this way..the prices are atrocious! You can do much better elsewhere.

Well, I was quite surprised. I did a couple of price checks on flights ex Bangkok, one a standard intra asia flight the other an AA flight to SJC using JAL as a codeshare on the BKK-NRT portion, which I know previously has been for sale at a substantial discount over the regular J fare. The prices that came back were very close to what I am quoted by discount travel agents in BKK. I guess it all depends on where your travel is originating from. It is quite possible that in the markets where oneworld has a substantial presence the system will not offer the special net fares that are usually available through a travel agent.

Interesting, since I priced a lax-bkk c flight on cx at $1500 higher than on expedia.

$3600 v $5100 seems to come to mind.

Interestingly, the booking feature has been removed (as at 8/1/01)..makes you wonder how serious it was meant to be?

that is right, it took them some time to negotiate and buy the domain name and put a link there to redirect to 'oneworldalliance.com" during the transition

ONEWORLD speak - "Access to airline lounges
The oneworld alliance airlines provide over 340 lounges across the globe. If you are a top-tier member of one of our frequent flyer programs, you will have access to our lounges prior to departure."
Well I am a top tier member and had a FC ticket and having just been to ORD I thought I would try the AA FCL lounge there - oops - what AA any class lounge ? Well I guess American does not have lounges in major American airports like ORD. The AA checkin attendant was very pleasant though - which terminal do I use to transfer to CX in LAX pls ?" "Sorry I don't know." (the info is actually shown in American Way inflight magazine) So much for oneworld.
On the way into LAX we got wake washed by an Airbus - the AA plane flipped 50 degrees both sides - nice to see HKG are now intending their vertical separation to be the same as LAX so the Chep Lap Kok windshear can add to the new landing fun.

MPO

AA lounge is the Admiral;s Club..i thk there were more than 1 in ORD.....
in LA, u have both the CX lounge (biz) and BA F cls lounge...on the same floor....BA F lounge is more comfortable (spacious, quiet), but better food served in CX lounge

as for the OW knowledge...dont expect much, esp from AA....so far CX is teh airline which really treated all OW members well (except for upgrade priority, which CX silver is put above AA/BA emerald..but that is just fair)

Thanks, but there is no American Airlines lounge in ORD and confirmed by the checkin staff.
I drove up from Lake Palcid early that day thinking I would try out their lounge but ended up in the airport Burger King instead.

Huh? There are several AA lounges in ORD. There's an enormous Admirals Club (considered a Business Class lounge for oneworld) and a Flagship Lounge (considered a First Class lounge). It is their hub, after all.
