MEL-XVY/SEA-LAX-MEL????

Oops, YVR, not XVY!!!

I seem to be unable to come up with a cheap (under AUD$2000!) way of doing this trip. I want to be at Vancouver or Seattle for a tour starting the 18th June 2001... then to go to LAX (Long Beach) for the 4th or 5th of July 2001... and leave LAX for Melbourne on the 9th of July.

Can anyone come up with any ways to do this, on One World? I don't want to do Air Canada, because they won't give me Frequent Flyer points any more.

Help?

Have you tried www.travel.com.au ??

Here are some other possibilities:
1) AKL-LAX return on QF: US$650
2) AKL-YVR return on JAL: US$473

Mel-Akl-Mel varies between US$160 and $200

Hope this helps a bit.

I had a little look, and found MEL-LAX at approx AU$1470, then LAX-SEA or LAX-YVR? "Sorry, but there are no flights available"

But travel agents seem to have been able to come up with a flight for about AU$400 or so, after asking after that routing... (LAX-SEA)...

There are also some special websaver West Coast fares on AA.com. I haven't checked the prices but I am sure that they contain LAX-Seattle and even maybe YVR.

Also, you might want to consider buying a trip to Europe as the price will be usually the same if not cheaper and on such a fare you are allowed to go to both, LAX and YVR plus several other American connecting points. I've been doing this quite successfully for a while.

AA does not serve YVR except via DFW (and possibly ORD). The departure of CP has really hurt their routes to this part of Canada. AS is supposed to be AA's partner on the west coast routes which it doesn't serve but there is no codesharing. Many routes especially intra-PNW ones were discontinued after the acquisition and integration of Reno Air.

Your best bet would be to watch fares from LAX-SEA (going to Canada adds at least US$50 mainly in U.S. customs fees). Keep an eye out on the WN and AS sites in addition to AA's. US$140 r/t would be a good fare.

Thanks, everyone!

I've finally got a really cheap Mel-LAX, then buying LAX-SEA return. I can start and end the tour in Seattle, so that's alright.

Thanks again! ^_^
