RTW Itinerary

I am traveling on business to Dubai this spring, and again in the fall.

I want to fly the following RTW routing:

YVR-HKG-DXB-LHR-ORD-SEA.

The airlines:

Cathay Pacific: YVR-HKG-DXB
British Airways: DXB-LHR
American: LHR-ORD-SEA

Does oneworld have a mechanism to schedule and price this? I tinkered around the site and found some individual flights, but no real way to integrate the entire route.

Any help, suggestions, or ideas are greatly appreciated.

The miles are a smidge more than SEA-ORD-LHR-DXB-return. I have never flown Cathay and never been to Hong Kong. Something to look forward too. No 747-400 flights either.

Let's hear what you have to say!

Thanks.

yes...here is the link, you can buy round-the-world explorer ticket...business is some 5500CAD....in fact, u can go a a few more places if u have time, and guess what, a first class round the world is typically similar to a business class full fare to dubai! call your local cx office or agent who deal with cx to issue the ticket.

there may be restriction that your whole jouney need to be at least 10 days, but since your 1st flight is with cx, they can waive that restriction for you.

FlyAAway,

If you decide to ticket this using a 1-World Explorer from Canada you will need to return to the same country (Canada) of origin. However the rules are pretty flexible so you could actually add SEA-MIA-DFW-YVR segments to your ticket at no extra cost and get a free trip to MIA. These segments can be taken at any time up to a year out. It would also solve the 10 day minimum stay requirement if that was a problem.

Also do not forget that CX does not offer First from HKG to DXB, however if you wanted to be a mileage "hog" you could fly YVR-HKG-LHR-DXB-LHR and get the First Beds the entire way at no added cost.

Have a good time on the flights and make sure to sign up for the Cathay Loyalty bonus.

one of the flights for BA HKG-LHR is already flat bed on Jclass as well...but make sure you are on the right plane (they depart in roughly the same time)

My best information for you is to call American's Around the World Desk -- 1-800-247-3247.

The staff is great, can do all sorts of pricings and airlines for you. I have heard (and having used the desk would believe) these are some of the best agents that AA has -- including the agents at the Exec. Plat deak.

You can also set-up and itinary with them and hold it up to 7 days before your flight. Reserve now so you get your seats (as there are some capacity controls on the seats -- different inventory class) and call once a month to have it extended. We booked our honeymoon in August of 2000 and did not have to pay for the tickets until January 2001 (and then only because we had vouchers that were going to expire).

You may also want to consider 1st versus business since the RTW is so much less than the direct flights (our honeymoon was $8,000 RTW versus $15,000 booked separatly).

Hope this helps.

A note about holding a reservation for oneworld Explorer.

I think you may be able to hold a reservation for some days but once you have AA price the ticket, that price is valid only for 24 hours.

So, it might be good to be vigilant, just in case there is an imminent price increase, like last year's from some cities.
