AA intends to quit OneWorld?

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, as posted in another thread:
http://www.smh.com.au/news/0010/14/b...business9.html

Has AA _actually_ announced this, or is it just fanciful editing?

Well, they have been talking about this over on the Planebusiness BB since this afternoon. After reading the article, I think at this time it's just total speculation. However, if Continental does replace AA I would be a very happy Onepass elite. My guess is even if AA does leave Oneworld, NW won't let Continental join.

It's funny how oneworld has been called "British Airways' oneworld alliance" and "American Airways' oneworld alliance" (esp. during recent BA/KLM talks and rumours of BA leaving) and now it has become "Qantas' oneworld alliance" now that there are rumours of AA leaving.
