thanks for the research, miler.
it sounds like Lan chile might be the easiest way to get a second bonus if they don't require a stopover, and if intra continen. travel is accepted. do they recognize SJO as south america? and can i enroll in their ff program over the phone?

You can enroll in LanPass online. Go to:
http://www.lanchile.com/english/lanp...ase/index.html

(That's for the English version. Go to http://www.lanchile.com and follow the links for the Spanish version if you prefer.)

Well, I've been pulling my hair out in clumps :-)

I have an itinerary that seems to work, but I was basing it on Cathay's anomalous definitions of the continents, so I may have a problem.

HKG-JNB-LHR-CAI-(MAD)-CCS-SJU-SDQ-MIA-LAX-SYD-POM-BNE-HKG

I have the BA list, and the Cathay List, and QF is simple enough (but probably screws up in practise :-))

I'm in catch-22 with AA - I want a PIN but have changed address, and I can't mail them without a PIN... anyone got an AA customer service email address? I want to try the routings on them and find if they consider SJU to be North America and SDQ to be South America... (as Cathay does). Come to that, if AA considers PNG (POM) as part of Asia that would also cheer me up.

Thanks

Neil

AND NOW FROM QANTAS:

Dear Mr Beattie,

Thanks again for your e-mail dated 27 July.

Travelling from London to Madrid on a oneworld operated airline will qualify as
one continent (ie. Europe) in the oneworld Continent Promotion between 1 June
and 31 August 2000. "Continents are counted based on your destination
continent, not the continent you depart from" as detailed in the Juy/August 2000
Frequent Flyer Newsletter (page 3).

Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us
again at the Frequent Flyer Service Centre.

Kind regards,

Helen Vassilopoulos
for The Qantas Club & Frequent Flyer Service Centre

I think Comair will count it is a BA flight number and BA has a stake in them so they should be OK - at least I hope so as I shall be on four of their flights at the end of next week.

The rules and replies from QF get stranger and conflicting day by day. Whom should one believe. Here is the reply that I received from QF:

Please respond to [email protected]

21 July 2000

Thank you for your e-mail.

An intra-continent flight does not count towards the oneworld promotion. You must travel from one continent to another on a oneworld airline for the continent to count toward your total.

If you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at
the Frequent Flyer Service Centre on 0345 747 100, and quote your Frequent Flyer
membership number. Of course, you can also contact us by e-mail at
[email protected] or view your account (security protected) on-line
through the Qantas website at www.qantas.com.au

Thank you for your support of Qantas and the Qantas Frequent Flyer program.

Yours sincerely,

Elissa Simpson

So my dear FTers, BEWARE before you tread.

Sorry for the bad news again.

As per QF, ONLY flights owned, operated and marketed by ONE-WORLD airlines will count. The subsidiary airlines do not count.

Hope you have made contingency plans.
