Iberia
This is posted in the AA forum, but I really think its more of a oneworld issue. AA recently announced that IB discount fares would only count for 30% of actual miles flown. For me, this would preclude me from ever considering flying IB again.
What is the purpose of having an alliance if there is that much disparity in how miles are accrued? What's next? AA says IB frequent flyers will only earn 30% mileage on AA?
If you're going to have an alliance, then be allies, I say. Just my .02.
Cheers,

absolutely. the only thing that made them a consideration ever for me was the ability to accrue miles in other 1w accounts. come on, do they really think anyone's going to fly them because of their oustanding service???

I assume it has more to do with IB then with AA. Having suffered JFK-BCN-ROM, twice last year, and one JFK-MAD, all three times in coach, I do not see myself flying IB ever again if the miles are reduced. J and F still have full points + bonus status. This is similar to QF and CX. And remember, when CP was part of the "fold", discounted Y intra-Canada was worth only 50%.

I think we should get double miles for flying IB in the rear cabin, particularly trans-Atlantic, the ptich is so tight and the service almost non-existent! But seriously, this is an alliance of airline, not a merger. Each carrier should maintain its independence and set its own mileage rules consistent with what it provides for its own domestic members. Why should an AAdvantage member get 100% mileage credit for a discounted fare, when a resident of Spain or Canada only gets a fraction of that as a member of IB's or CP's program? Competition doesn't exist to the same degree outside the United States as inside, so mileage is going to be less on non-U.S. carriers even if they are part of an allaince like oneworld or Star.
