BA Bonus Restrictions

Just got off the phone with BA concerning the UK program and the 1World bonus. Apparently BA will not count flights on 1 World Carriers in which they have flights for the route flown. These will still count for Air Miles and Tier Points, but not the bonus.

So a flight from TPE-HKG on CX will get me miles and points, but will not count towards the bonus since BA has a competing flight on that route. This rule would also negate the QF code share from LHR-AMS, Finnair flights from LHR-HEL, and CX flights from AMS-MAN among others.

Has anyone else heard of this restriction? Does it apply to the USA bonus. I am hoping that the rep was simply misinformed, but she seemed pretty knowledgeable.

I had called BA at least 4 times before I started my pursuit of this bonus and am amazed that this never came up in my conversation with BA.

All of these problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have yet to start my 1W bonus and am taking the whole family. If something were to happen and I didn't get my 100k bonus, I would be terribly upset. Does anybody have all of the rules, etc. in print or saved from a website. If you do, please post it under the 1W board.

Thanks,

Chris Moss

This is a new one on me.

I don't think this is mentioned in the literature or on the web site.

Anyway, I've done 4 of my 5 (actually 5 of 5 but my American flights have not posted yet) and no bonus whatsoever.

Has anyone got a bonus on BA yet.

(I thought 20,000 Air Miles was too generous!)

I have not heard of this restriction for the USA program. The OW bonus isn't supposed to post on BA until January (unlike AA). I wouldn't really expect BA to impose this restriction. Besides, the Americans would probably revolt, and surely British would not want that.

Agree that BA will post the bonus at "some future date" - I called to ask why they hadn't corrected a flight posting they credited a BA flight to their own Executive Club when I wanted AAdvantage), and at the same time confirmed that I've qualified for the 100k bonus (all five flights had credited). She said yes, but didn't know when it would post.

RichLond, I don't see how that rule could possibly be true, we checked out the rules thoroughly when the promotion was launched and that is the first we have heard. The rules are at this link if you scroll down the page.

Sorry guys,

I thought I had posted this a couple days after my original post. I did call back and spoke with a "manager". She said that my CX flight from HKG to TPE would count and there was no restriction that BA could not have a competing route.

Again sorry I did not post this earlier.

rich

ps. I still wonder what that agent was thinking as she was adamant that flights on routes that BA also served would not count toward the 20,000 Air Mile Promotion.
