Oneworld bonus dream shattered

I got the latest edition of Business Traveler yesterday and found out some more restrictions regarding the Oneworld Bonus offer campagin. I need to fly transpacific or transatlantic on these airlines. I wish I have known about this fact back on October when I decide to fly AA/CP. Now my itinerary will not work...

I already got postings from both AA and CP, but my RT on BA and CX on HKG and TPE would not give me the bonus because they are only Asian regional flights.

Anyone can tell me if I am right...

Thanks,
Carfield

Can you please provide more info about the Business Traveler article you refer to. We have no idea what you may be addressing unless you tell us more.

The rules you should be going by are the ones originally posted by each participating airline when they announced the promotion. These do vary from carrier to carrier, but they should be the ones to work by. I admit that in some cases these are contradictory, and if one reads the rules, eligible flights for this bonus can be different from mileage accrual eligibility. (At least by my reading of the small print, and the confusion also brought into the picture because there is another set of rules that apply to the Million Mile Sweepstakes. See my comments about this on a neighbouring strand.)

Carfield,
I recieved my AA one world bonus almost immediately upon my return to LA. There was absolutely NO restriction on where the 5 carriers flew, just that I flew 5 one world carriers. I also did a BA 100K bonus and there was no problme although BA will not post the bonus miles until January.

GOOD LUCK

I apologize for the confusion. I reread Randy's article on the Business Traveler for Dec 99, and found out that I misunderstood the sentence.

My itinerary will work... He simply said that it would be tough to fly four or more airlines for US resident, if you don't fly a transocenic segment. I noticed that one of the FT members is quoted there about its creative way to get the 100K bonus. I can't remember this FT fellow's name... I will look it up tonight and post it here...

Thanks,
Carfield
