My understanding is that there is 3 Exec Clubs, I have never heard of an Asia club.
That is not to say it doesn't exist I have just never heard of it. I suppose the possibility exists that it is considered part of British Asia airlines and not British Airways.
All BA Exec clubs include the rule "On entry to a new tier of Executive Club your membership tally will automatically revert to zero".

well, about British Asia Airways...I would tend to think that this Exec Club is also part of British Airways and not British Asia Airways...because it seems they have never mentioned or used the term "British Asia Airways" in the handbook at all...and even in Terms and Conditions they said "British Airways" means British Airways Plc...

Well, tedhl - it looks like you have some serious decisions to make.
CX or BA?
Have you spoken to CX yet? What have they said? But it looks like you're set to become a CX premium member in anyway. First Ruby - though you're hoping for Sapphire, and aiming for Diamond.
Let us know what happens here.
Good luck!

I did write to CX already (to Peter Buecking, as Merry suggested), a couple of days ago...but I'm yet to receive a reply...basically I just told them what I posted here earlier...that it took them a relatively long period of time to process and approve my application, and then said flights within the period won't count, kind of unreasonable, and was always told to wait for phone calls that I never got, etc...and, at the same time, did tell them that my experience with them so far has been pretty good, enjoy talking with their customer service reps, who're always very sincere and polite...
I didn't really tell them something like you have to give me Gold or I'll leave, or something like that...I just describe my experience and see how they'll respond...I don't want to tell them what they should do, but rather want to see what they think they should do...

a first reply from CX...
Dear Mr. Chan,
Thank you for sharing your experience with Cathay Pacific in your letter of 26th April, 1999.
I apologize for the excessive length of time taken to process your application and for the inconveniences which we have caused you. Under such circumstances, I have passed on your letter to our Manager CIS & FFP to reconsider the issue regarding your Club sector credits.
On a positive note, I am happy to know that you are pleased with the service rendered by our staff at The Club Service Centre. I will pass on your kind remarks which will certainly be an encouragement to them.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to write to me.
Yours sincerely,
CATHAY PACIFIC AIRWAYS LTD.,
Peter Buecking
Director Sales & Marketing
cc Mr. Ron Mathison, Manager CIS & FFP

Great tedhl....
Now we'll just have to wait and see what the response is.
On another note, CX flies their A340 aircraft on certain days between KUL-HKG but is only selling J & Y seats (no First). I was wondering why my T/A told me that the first 2 rows are blocked off so I called CX myself to enquire. "They'll be reserved for Marco Polo members only" was their reply. No, not even oneworld Emerald members can sit there. I guess, once again, my Marco Polo Gold is more handy than Canadian's Emerald.
By the way....any FTers in HK this weekend?

tedhl -
In this month's Business Traveller (May), in the Letters to the Editor, Letter of the month wrote about being disenchanted about Marco Polo programme. You should read it!
ANyway , how is your progress with MPC?
HK sure is drizzily this weekend ! Didn't do much - visit friends, visit relatives. Eat.

yes...I did read it already, last evening in the HK CX lounge...
my progress with The Club...haven't heard anything after Peter Buecking's letter...just called The Club Service Center (I must say that their global toll-free numbers are really cool)...and checked my membership status, still Silver, with 4.5 Club Sectors (what I have after they reset my account on Apr 15)...they are yet to credit my flight yesterday...after this week I would have 7.25 Club Sectors (4.5 + 1 J + 1 F)...if they do decide to give me the 20 sectors, and not give me Gold immediately, I would still have 27.25 Club Sectors, pretty close to the 40 needed for Gold...
Celestar340, too bad that I didn't have a chance to meet you this past weekend...it was such a busy working weekend for me...

Hey tedhl - I was at The Wing too - around 4pm. I will be making my return to HK twice more before end of month. 20-21May and then maybe again on 24-27May. Maybe we can meet up for a drink then!
I sincerely hope you get Gold soon!
Cheers!

Hey tedhl - any news on your CX programme yet?
I'll be back in HKG tomorrow for one night though and then heading on CX717 on 21May for SIN. Anyone at the First Class lounge then?

Celestar340...I still haven't heard anything from The Club yet...today is exactly 3 weeks since I got Peter Buecking's reply...I just called the Service Center and checked...Silver member, with 7 Club Sectors (2.5 more yet to be credited)...
maybe they're still considering my request, or they've decided not to credit me any more sectors but haven't yet told me...I haven't got any letters from them yet...
and, I've a roundtrip in March, in J class, but got credited as Y class...I called them more than a month ago, faxed them my boarding passes and tickets...but then until today the error is still not yet corrected...
it just seems in general it took them forever to process anything...
Celestar340...I'll be back to HKG in the evening of May 21...leaving again in late evening of May 23...

Boy, am I pooped! Just got in from LHR and the palne actually parked at a remote bay and we had to be bussed to the terminal. On board the packed bus, I overheard how a Diamond MPO member was complaining about the crappy service he was getting from CX to a woman who recently became a Silver member. I added my two cents worth to the conversation!
Anyway, I'm leaving for SIN tomorrow (21May) and then coming back to HKG on the 27th. Maybe we could catch up then (along with any other FTyers)?
