Iberia airport code mistake

I attempted to post this on the Iberia sections but it's pretty dead and not showing up. Figure I'd try here. I'm attempting to book a flight from MCI to MAD (with a layover in ORD). The problem is that on Iberia's website they have MKC as the code for Kansas City instead of MCI. MKC is the old airport that no long has commercial flights. When I call Iberia they say it's correct. I asked them to find me any award availability from Kansas City to any city anytime in the next year and they couldn't. Yet they assured me that MKC is the correct airport code.

I can book MCI to ORD using BA Avois (there is ton of availability from Kansas City on American) and then ORD to MAD using Iberia Avois. I'm just worried that if there is a delay from KC to Chicago and I miss Chicago to Madrid than I'll have issues since they'll be on two different tickets.

Anyone have any thoughts on how best to try to get Iberia to fix this problem?

If you are trying to use BA avios the BA forum would be a better place for this thread.
If you are trying to use IB avios the IB forum would be a better place for this thread.
Or are you trying for separate award tickets? Or a cash ticket?

You are far better to book MCI-ORD-MAD as 1 ticket/PNR, even if costs more avois/cash.

As cross-posting is not allowed on FT, I'm closing this thread. Please refer to the OP's companion thread on the Iberia board.
