NEW VERSION - xONEx Online Booking Tool

New version, with a different interface

for example
- choose flights
- choose dates
- tool then pulls flights and prices!

Still playing with it - so more to follow

Edited to Add:
  • it has a feedback button!
  • have tried four different itineraries with different first airlines, nothing is pricing up

I tried some itins on tuesday early morning (new system, sorry: didn't think to post here) and it priced up some of them.

Worth noting: when I used it if there were multiple segments you selected dates for then it would auto pick the flight for you. When you only changed/set the date for 1 segment it would give you a more expected "pick your specific flight" screen.

Tool still disallows flights between Erope zone and Middle East zone when there is a backtrscvk from Africa (that restriction was removed from the rule sheet in Agust)

I don't like that it chooses the flights for you. Yes, you can go in and change them; but flight-departs-before-previous-flight-arrives errors are now regular occurrences.

Finding it a LOT alower than old tool. Most likely as it's trying to build up to 16 segments in one shot. Going on 5 minutes and it still has 3 segments without flights...ug.

Horrible.

Much less flight options found.

Any edit to routing causes the tool to search for its default flights for every sector even if you've previously manually selected a different flight.

I haven't been able to get anything to price up yet.

Seems to have some weird "rules" built in. E.g. impossible to do a same day connection at NRT (even 10+ hours is invalid).

I played around with the tool quite a bit yesterday and finally got it to price some 16-segment ex-JNB itineraries (and it was willing to take me all the way to the Purchase page). Some lessons learned based on my testing:
  • It would always error on pricing any time I ended my itinerary anywhere other than JNB (meaning other valid southern Africa end points).
  • It would frequently error on pricing when I had any surface sectors.
  • If I put in all my cities, picked dates for them all, and had it find flights for all at once it would error every time. Finally got it to price a full itinerary by adding 3 flights at a time slowly...
  • If I started with a saved itinerary originally built with the previous version of the tool it would fail every time.

Wow. Makes you wonder if there did any user research at all (you know, what users use old system, what users use new system).

Has anyone found the button that will display more flight choices? i.e. when you choose a city pair with lots of daily nonstop flights, the only ones displayed on the first screen are those in the early morning ... but I haven't found the button that will display the subsequent screens .....

I should have been clearer.

I'm speaking about after clicking the "Change Flights" button, and then confirming the date, the next screen has a maximum of 12 flights listed.

I'm looking for how to access the next screen of 12 flights, and the next ones after that.

In certain markets (i.e. think NYC - MIA), the first 12 flights barely gets one to 12 noon....

The former version of the tool definitely had a button to click to show more flight alternatives, and I assume this one does as well .... but I'm just not seeing it.

TIA!

Didn't get time to play with it until today. Wow, the new interface is extremely user-unfriendly, auto-fill with default flights is time consuming to make changes; the tool forces "surface sector" when it didn't like AAA-BBB routing; not sure how to get out of unwanted "surface sector".

Plenty to gripe about!

Has anyone found a way around (or through) this limitation? It's trying to tell me that on a chosen day there is one and only one flight between Chicago and NYC! Pretty much makes the tool worthless, really.

Who could have signed off on replacing the old tool -- problematic though it may have been -- with this nightmare?!?

I've found several instances where the online tool incorrectly requires connecting flights to be changed because they do not meet the minimum connecting time, when in fact it is a valid connection. I have provided feedback from the website but so far the problem continues to persist.

The only way around this problem that I can see at present, is to book a connecting flight that the online tool will accept, and then contact the ticket issuing airline to change the flight to the desired one.

Anyone else run into this problem?
