London to SIN 30/9 to 9/10
Hi all,
Looking at J class fares for One World carriers to Singapore on the dates above (30th September to 9th/10th October) the cheapest is Sri Lankan Airlines at around Ł1500.
But it involves a long stay over at CMB on the way there (~13 hours) as the gap between UL 504 and UL 306 is quite long.
I believe I have three options -
1. Book another One World Carrier, however BA will never be as cheap, even with summer sales. Qatar might be?
2. Book a multi-city flight so I go from CMB to SIN on another airline, however if this pushes the cost up I might as well just go via Qatar.
3. Get an ETA and just spend the day in Colombo, land at 12:45 so basically just have the whole day. However if there's bureaucracy in the airport and lots of traffic maybe won't get that much time. Still, I'm leaning towards this.
Any suggestions?

Yes. Don't depart from the UK. Originate from anywhere else on the Continent, eg CDG, AMS, FRA, CPH, OSL for much cheaper fares, and be innovative.
For example, the same UL fare is only Ł1190 a.i. from CDG to SIN, with only a 3 hour connection both ways at CMB. UL does give you a free hotel room for longer connections should you wish to still depart from LHR and avoid the hassle.
RJ has a good fare to BKK and KUL from CDG. QR has good fares ex-OSL. YQ is still high to/from SIN. HKG, NRT have low to zero YQ, so you might want to look at getting there and buying separate tickets.
BTW, that's what a TA is for... go find one and ask them to research for you.

Thanks for your help.
I wasn't specifically looking for London. On ITA my airport list is London airports and AMS, ARN, BRU, CPH, FRA, HEL, LIN, LIS, PAR, VIE, DUB, DUS, HAM, LUX, MAD, OSL, RTM. Given the cost of a positioning flight and the risk involved (if I'm delayed cause I'm on two tickets there is no coverage) I didn't see a flight worth it.
However I did not see that UL fare, were you on ITA checking that?
I didn't know this, thanks for the info will look it up.
