Reading above link, and quote the part that said, "Temporary measures have been put in place in the lounge including capacity restrictions, physical distancing requirements and changes to our food and beverage service offerings."

Has anyone encountered Capacity Restrictions, if so at what time?

BTW, glad that this lounge is open!

LAX OW business lounge is closed today. Apparently they have plumbing issues. I event checked the Qantas website before heading to the airport and it said open. Very frustrating as I came a few hours early to stop by the lounge.

I feel you. The exact same thing happened to me. You beat me to posting that picture. Poor communication from QF/Oneworld not to update the closure.

Report on BA forum the TBIT lounge has reopened:

You have to show your vaccination certificate in order to have access because they claim it is a restaurant. You do not have to show your vaccination certificate in any other lounge or restaurant within LAX. Very strange. The qantas First lounge will not re-open before March. The AA FL is not open. The lounges of all other major airline groups withinTBIT are open. The Amex centurion lounge is supposed to re-open this month.

I visited both Flagship Business and OneWorld Business lounges the evening of March 2. Flagship was a better experience - much quieter, less crowded, nice tarmac views. Perhaps a smaller selection of food items but higher quality. Centurion still "closed for repairs".

italdesign Mar 25, 2022 2:15 pm

Oneworld lounge not open until 2hr before my QR flight. Enjoying myself in the Flagship lounge (10min walk), agree with ^ about the high quality food, especially the desserts.

Update: checked out the oneworld lounge. I like the space (more spacious and less crowded than Flagship today), but the food is awful: a few stale and super basic "Asian" dishes (think lo mein). Flagship food was on a much higher level.

ernestnywang Mar 26, 2022 2:10 pm

Just took a look at https://www.qantas.com/au/en/qantas-...iness%20Lounge. It now says,

This lounge reopens on 30 March 2022.
Lounge opening hours are from 6:30am daily until the last scheduled Qantas flight departure.
We all know the lounge has been reopened quite a while ago, but it seems the hours of operations will more or less resume. I will be in LAX the entire afternoon of 01APR (feel free to PM me if you are interested in meeting up!) and will check.

I’m a Platinum Pro and will be traveling with 2 more people who don’t have status. Does anyone know if the Qantas Business lounge sells day pass and how much it is?

Qantas do not sell day passes.

They do have complementary invitations given as incentives or rewards or sometimes a special offer but I am not sure any can be used at this lounge.

Sandy Hopper Apr 19, 2022 3:30 pm

Staff still insist on masks at the buffet.
They say they have not received any new guidance from LAWA (and from their operator) so far.
No update on flyLAX.com as far as I can tell.
I’ll be eating at Flagship First.

Word is Qantas will be reopening the First Lounge sometime in June.
Staff shortage issues might add to the delay.

ralphs Apr 19, 2022 4:18 pm

That's a great data point. I would prefer to eat a place that requires masks at buffet. Thank you.

World Traveller Fuss Apr 23, 2022 4:58 pm

Is there any word on the Oneworld First Lounge opening up?

I passed though in March before the A380 SYD resumed (which was reported to trigger the first lounge reopening) but it wasn’t open. I tried both Flagship in T4 (quiet, good food, good views) and Oneworld Business (much bigger and busier. Average food) over a long layover. I’ve another trip next week. Flagship would be a preference if Oneworld First isn’t open.

Not to nit pick too much, but it is the Qantas First Lounge, not the OW First Lounge, although qualifying OW pax get access, of course.

What’s the best lounge for a BA Gold flying J on BA from LAX-LHR?

Also have Amex platinum if that makes a difference.

thanks!

Once the QF First Lounge opens back up again, then it's a toss up between the AA Flagship Lounge, or the QF First Lounge, depending on what aspects of the lounge you favor. Views, self service, vs. better F&B overall, for example. Of course nothing stops you from doing lounge hoping if you are up for it.

I am flying today. Is the AA Flagship our best (only?) option?

The OW Business Lounge in TBIT is nice enough and open. I like it for the fact that they serve draft craft beer, but otherwise the Flagship Lounge is nicer as far as F&B.. IMHO, of course ;). And you can lounge hop..

Never really tried so dont know but can I get into OW J lounge by virtue of AA LAX-JFK transcon in J/F ? I am guessing know as thats just a special AA thing the LAX/JFK & the LAX/MIA on the 77W. I thought once though I read pre Covid that someone said they got into Qantas F actually when flying LAX-JFK in FF but maybe that was due to their status.

I have LAX-MIA FF red eye later this week and with no FFD was just thinking I'd check out the OW J food selection but didnt want to walk all the way over if I wont be allowed in.

You should have access because of the transcon, but they might still deny you.

FWIW, the AA Flagship Lounge I consider better and would use that over that (and even the Qantas First Lounge when it opens).

I've only been once to the OW J so just figured I'd check it out. Also, it looks like the plane going to MIA, at least this last week, is coming from London and parking at 153. So actually I'd have to pass the lounge getting to the plane anyways.

I'd take Qantas F over FL any day though, i mean assuming we're not considering the FFD component. I do like that LA is the only FL with hot showers though. DFW, JFK & MIA are all truly a joke as far as the max temp.

Definintly not comparing to FFD.

In my perspective, the Qantas First Lounge at LAX is like a cafeteria - my habit in recent years was to eat there before heading to the relative tranquillity of the Flagship Lounge to await my Qantas flight.

I love a la carte dining so for me i really like it. I dont like buffets. I also dont think anything is good for the most part at any FL buffet. Hot stuff is never hot and temp is super important to me. Also, I think the LAX FL is by far the weakest of the FL's I love Miami. Its huge, its cold in one area if you want that but warmer in others if you like that. Has a better TV area that is more private. I love LA for the hot shower though. If FFD is included then I am onboard with what you said hands down.

I'm in Y on LAX-MIA, One World Emerald via AA Platinum Pro. My wife is in J, but no status, so I don't think she can get me in with her, right?

So would our best or maybe only option be TBIT One World Business Lounge? Or is she not eligible because it's not international (or 3 class) on her own, but perhaps eligible as my guest if I can get in?

I think your wife has access to AA's FL and AC (without guest privileges for either), but you don't have access to any.

I have an AC membership, but not much real food there.

Agree. In this case, either you will both stay at the AC, or you and your wife will part ways after the entrance.

Currently, oneworld's website no longer specifically says North American "domestic" F and J pax are not allowed to enter the lounge, although I think they just forgot to put it there when they re-did the website. You can try your luck at the OW lounge, but I wouldn't count on being able to access.

I was wondering last week when I was flying to MIA if the premium transcon would get me in to the OW J lounge but I completely forgot to go try. I dont believe it would have. I even had to walk all the way to Bradley b/c the MIA red eye is now the same plane as the arriving London flight so its parked at Bradley. Totally forgot to go try at OW J lounge.

The best that can be said is that it is nicely furnished. F&B buffet in Flagship better.

Tried both the AA Flagship Lounge and the QF biz lounge last week at LAX. Not really a fan of either. Agree with Happiest_at_40000 that the LA lounge is definitely behind Miami (and New York), though I wasn't too wild about Dallas either. Or Chicago.
Anyway, really can't wait for the QF First lounge to reopen since without that or FFD, there really isn't any oneworld lounge in LAX that seems compelling. Actually my favorite meal last week was in the AC with BBQ chicken sliders (with coleslaw and pickles) and also the fresh guacamole they make in the afternoons. To my mind, those two items were better than any food available in the other two lounges.

Agree with you completely about the sliders & guac. I dont get all the love for the FL buffet good. I find it ranging from average to inedible. And mostly on average just bad.

Dallas FL isnt much either I agree. Just one long rectangle. And they close the showers early which really stinks. They tried to tell me last month I couldnt shower at 920pm. I had to flight for 10 min and get a supervisor to be given a key. The water temp there is same with JFK & MIA though meaning not hot like LAX.

Outside of the shower not being hot (though its only hot at LA) I would take MIA FL as the best. Never been to Chicago FL

They didn’t let me in last week (LAX-MIA in first on 773) and I had a really unpleasant interaction with the lounge agent, who was breathtakingly condescending. I contacted AA on Twitter, and they told me “you have access to the Admiral’s Club in T4,” which was so stupid that I didn’t even respond. Yes, I have access to the AC, but I also had access to the Flagship Lounge, which they said nothing about. Of late, I have had zero help from American.

For example, this morning I got an email to call in to change my flight due to severe thunderstorms in Charlotte, but my flight used an SWU, so it’s bucket C; two agents I spoke to indicated that they’d need C inventory to rebook me, which is also pretty stupid (and even wrong, I think, but I’m not an expert). Anyway, there isn’t going to be any C availability the day-of, and they couldn’t even put me in coach, despite plenty of fares still being sold. I asked whether they could have revenue management work some magic behind the scenes (there was an award seat available, and I asked them to put it into C to solve this made-up problem), but the agent wasn’t even willing to call over.

It’s just—why am I EP when I never get help when I need it? Lately, the primary benefit is that they answer the phone within two minutes—to tell me to bend over.

silanfa Jul 23, 2022 2:48 pm

Two data points:

Denied entry at the J lounge with a LAX-JFK boarding pass in J. Agent had a binder ready with AA lounge rules that conveniently omitted the transcon carve-out. When I pulled up the current transcon lounge access rules on oneworld.com, the agent refused to engage on the basis that AA/OW had changed the rules.

According to the same agent, the F side is reopening in two weeks.

beachfan Aug 26, 2022 6:34 pm

Any update on the F lounge?

That really is worrisome b/c it says clearly there is a carve out for LAX/JFK for both J & F, to their respective lounges of course.

Nest time politely ask them to so. If it allows access, they will be told so, if not, the same. Takes them 2 seconds.
