ExpertFlyer & Qantas

I'm tying to work out a OW RTW trip at the moment and have noticed that EF, for some reason, isn't showing the QF LAX-SYD direct flights when you look for award availability. They're there when I search flight availability but all I see is routings via BNE and occasionally MEL when I do an award search.

Anyone else seeing this? Or is this an issue that I just haven't heard about?

(note: Just to be clear, I'm not saying that the awards are showing at 0, I'm saying the flights aren't showing at all.)

This has always been the case. As noted at the top of the Award & Upgrade results page for a QF award search: "A flight will only be returned by Qantas if it has an Award class that has availability greater then zero."

When there is availability in an award class, it will show:

You can go to JAL.com and join jal program. Then you can check Qantas availability.

You sound like you may not be aware that in the last couple days, AA just added QF as their newest partner for which they show availability online at aa.com. So workarounds should no longer be required.
