RTW using OW Miles

RTW using OW Miles
Hi guys,
I plan to book a RTW award Ticket using my OW Miles.
However I have some doubts and perhaps someone may assist?
Usually Tickets are valid for one year; however I plan to travel during 11 months. Does the validity of the Ticket count as from the issue date or as form the first flight date?
My problem is that if it counts form the issuance date I wont be able to realize the trip.
Since award seats are limited I need to book far in advance. So I plan to book already the first legs that are already possible, all other one on a later stage as soon as award seats are open. So actually I would book the whole trip already and then change consequently the ticket to the exact date that is in the future and still not open to book.
What do you guys think? Is this possible, rr do I have to take the risk to book shortly before departure since Ticket is only valid for a year?
