Couple Quick Q's for the guru's...
was going thru the forum and quite informative...booking my first oneworld around the world ticket.
I am AA EXP and have an around the world ticket on hold...couple questions as this is my first time doing so and seeking guidance.
Itinerary is Toronto - JFK - Milan - Barcelona - London - Tokyo - HKG - Shanghai - Nanjing and home to Toronto.
booking through one world and fare is business class.
do all miles go back into my AA EXP account??
can i upgrade with eVIP to First on any of the legs?
what is best airline for NRT - HKG...is it CX? or??
I have JL for LHR to NRT...is that best option?
...my first around the world ticket but plan to do them 2 - 4 times a year...seems a good deal pending a couple of the answers...cheers, BB

You obviously have not posted your entire itinerary, so I wonder if you have used all 16 allowed segments? If not, you should add on a few in order to maximise your mileage accummulation.
Happy Travels.

You can only use eVIPs on 3-class AA metal flights, and only if AA issues the ticket (which looks to be the case if AA is your first carrier, YYZ-JFK.) You can't use eVIPs to upgrade on other carriers.
How are you getting between Shanghai and Nanking? You could do it by going PVG-HKG-NKG (Dragonair) but that would cause you to have five segments in Asia (NRT-HKG-PVG-HKG-NKG-HKG...) which one too many.
Personally I'd choose CX between HKG and NRT and JL between LHR and NRT (mainly to avoid BA fuel surcharges.) BA's seats are parallel to the floor; JL's are slightly tilted. If that matters (doesn't to me) then BA.
Assuming you're returning HKG-YYZ? If that's the case, then you won't have an opportunity to use an eVIP as JFK-MXP is in two-class equipment. You could go JFK-xLHR-MXP using AA to LHR on a 777, in which case you could use the eVIP on that segment, again, only if you bought the ticket through AA.
EDITED TO ADD: Please refrain from asking the same question on multiple boards; it's against FT T&Cs.

The rules used to specifically say you could upgrade individual AA sectors. Now the rules say:
4) Upgrading by sector to Business/First class is not permitted.
CX still offers F at least 1 flight a day on HND-HKG. This is the flight I would use. Edited to add: since you are doing a DONE this doesn't matter
LHR-NRT JL or BA. You could also route through HKG on CX if you wanted. You have a number of segments still available although depending upon your route you will hit your four max in Asia as noted by gardyloo.
