LONE4 Dilemma -
Dear all,
I need some urgent advice
I am halfway through my round the world ticket with the following routes left:
London - Nairobi 24/8/11 with BA
Dar Es Salaam - Johannesburg 17/11/11 with BA
Johannesburg - Sydney 17/11/11 with Qantas
It was booked with LAN. We have 2 issues:
1. Our Dar to Johannesburg BA flight route has been cancelled, and now there are now no oneworld flights doing this route. Moreover, there are no oneworld flights from East Africa to Johannesburg.
2. We want to change our flight from London to Nairobi to the 2nd of September
I have spoken to BA and they said it was LAN's responsibility to get us on another flight from Dar to Johannesburg as LAN own the ticket.
I spoke to LAN and they initially said that they were happy to do the date change, but they can't reissue the ticket until the other problem is fixed, as the ticket booking becomes an error. They also initially said that I needed to speak to BA to organise a different flight for the Dar to Johannesburg, because it was their problem, and that it was BA's responsibility.
I subsequently told them that BA said that it was LAN's responsibility to organise another flight. At the moment, the representative I spoke to, after a lot of arguing, will try and work somethiing out.
Does anyone have any advice as to who is responsible for all of this and any tactics for getting a flight from LAN or BA from Dar to Johannesburg on another non oneworld carrier ie South African Airways. It's a bit of a mess and we dont have much time before our upcoming flight. We are in the UK at the moment.
Thanks to everyone
Ben

Hi There,
thanks for your help on this one. it did sort itself out, but i don't know how.
I spoke to British Airways again fro about 20minutes in the UK and they advised me to book a separate flight on south african airways and then claim it through customer relations services after i finished my trip. They would not guarantee I would be refunded for the flight. They would also not give this to me in writing, either would LAN. I also spoke to LAN and they said I needed to sort out the cancelled segment with BA before I could change my other flight as an error kept coming up on their system. They also said they spoke to BA who apparently told them that BA is happy to take responsibility but wouldn't do anything about it.
After much stress and arguing, I called back BA ready to demand the flight again with another agent, but when I did, my ticket had been miraculously reissued, with my flight change on the London Nairobi confirmed and also the flight from Dar to Johannesburg also confirmed.
I don't know who did it but it was also sorted - much relieved.
thanks for your help, it was really useful
