In-person interviews are required for virtually all US Visa applicants as well...

Unless you qualify for ESTA. But then again, how many countries fingerprint their visitors?

Britain fingerprints me sometimes on entry. Never consistently though.

Note that in this post the D fares have also jumped by around 300%. This basically knocks KRT out of the price leader category for premium-cabin RTWs for the time being.

I just confirmed it with a saved ex-KRT DONE3 on the online tool. Base price in USD went from $2800-something to around $7700 between Monday and today.

Japan and Korea do. Brazil was fingerprinting Americans for a while, don't know if they still do.

I'm sorry I missed it.

Also on the bad news front, AA RTW desk mentioned (while I was changing dates on an unrelated RTW) that the Canadian exception has gone away. The rules sheet no longer mentions it, as far as I can see.

Confirmed in the appropriate thread: 'Canadian exception'' for oneworld RTWs ELIMINATED

In sweeping generalisations - because US visa applicants pose next to no immigration risk to Sudan while Sudanese pose massive immigration risk to the US. Immigration measures should be risk based not reciprocal. Fees are different, they can charge whatever they want.

ESTA is for those living in countries in the Visa Waiver Program, who do not need to apply for a visa in most cases and hence are not visa applicant.

Located in a first world country, that may be what you think, but the feelings coming from others can well be different.

I think the fact that it sat at $2800 for so long is what is bizarre

Yes I agree. For a long time the price of a DONE4 was 14,700SDG
Prior to early July 21012, the exchange rate was ~ 1SDG = 0.37USD

So 14,700SDG was then ~5439USD which was pretty good, but probably not good enough for many of us to consider visiting KRT

Then in early July the currency dropped to ~ 1SDG = 0.23USD
So the 14,700SDG became ~3381USD which was low enough for many of us to pull the trigger and buy

And so it got noticed...

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry8700c: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 4.1.1; GT-I9300 Build/JRO03C) AppleWebKit/535.19 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/18.0.1025.166 Mobile Safari/535.19)

Got my tourist visa today in London. Surprisingly easy. But they have a higher charge for US passports so had to pay 95 gbp versus 55 for other passports. Either way should be a fun excursion up to see Meroe.
