Connectiontime between CX and LA in JFK

Hi all, I am looking to fly from Hong Kong to Peru and sadly none of the codeshare flights between CX and LA will work timewise. So my TA has come up with the following routing:
CX 840 HKGJFK 1625 2030
LA 531 JFKLIM 2315 0610

I have never transitted via JFK before. Is this a doable connection or will immigration, customs, security, etc., make this touch-and-go?

I've transitted in JFK between CX and AA many times. Though I've never been to the terminal LA uses, I suspect that 2:45 is more than enough, unless you encounter another snow storm.

According to the information found on the KVS Tool, the MCT is 2 hours:
[KVS Availability Tool 6.0.7/Diamond - Reference: Minimum Connection Time [MCT]: JFK/CX-LA]
Code:
                                               DD DI ID II
STANDARD: JFK 060 075 105 120
EXCEPTIONS:

I have spent 90 min in the immigration line in JFK after arriving off the LA LIM-JFK flight (early morning). Add that to any flight delay and you might not connect.

What about going via LAX or SFO? 14:05 HKG - 10:00 SFO on CX,then 11:04 - 00:10 to LIM? There is also 3 hour connection in LAX. LAX and SFO should be easier, no terminal change.

The flight times on LA from SFO and LAX change seasonally - but both are easy - after immigration/customs, go right back upstairs, and check in. SFO international terminal is probably the nicest terminal in the USA. But if you don't have 120 minutes, you probably can't do it.

Thanks!

Thanks folks!

I am more concerned about the connection going TO Lima than coming back FROM Lima. If 2 hrs will do it at JFK, then the itinerary works out well.

The routing via LAX or SFO does not work, unfortunately, as the meeting-schedule for the departure-day from HKG sees me checking in in the morning, head off to meetings and jump on the airport express at just after 3pm. ^

Of course, should the meetings change, then LAX or SFO are very good options with less time spent airborne.

Thanks again.
