Date for S7 Airlines to join oneworld?

Been searching the forums and the internet and not having much luck on whether an official date has been set for S7 to join OW. Seems like a lot of radio silence on the issue for almost a year now. Hope we don't have another MX situation where it keeps getting dragged out.

Anyone in the know on this?

I've only seen this in the oneworld "news" section:
http://www.oneworld.com/ow/news/details?objectID=18020
(I assume you've seen that too, given your research)

Since nothing else has been posted on the oneworld site, I've assumed that no date has been set.
I agree with you... I hope that it can get wrapped up this year. Only time will tell if the deal will go through.

"Russia's S7 Airlines To Join oneworld

Russia's S7 Airlines will join oneworld, offering the alliance's full range of services, benefits and fares, during 2010. With a system that covers Russia and the CIS, S7 serves 72 destinations worldwide - 38 of them in Russia - and brings eight countries into the oneworld network - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

It will expand oneworld's network to nearly 750 destinations in almost 150 countries, served by a combined fleet of 2,300 aircraft operating almost 8,500 flights a day, and carrying more than 330 million passengers a year."

(My emphasis.) Given the systems rationalisation that must occur (computer, reservation, etc.) I'd not be terribly surprised at a delay of some kind. Maybe during 2011, we will be able to earn oneworld miles and benefit from oneworld perks on our visits to the 'stans.

Guess I'm not the only one mildly intrigued at visiting some obscure countries with AA miles Thanks!

It seems there has been some delay - previously the entry of S7 was described as being mid 2010 but the OW website dropped the reference to mid.

In any case. maybe we can hope for connections to IKT and OVB from either HKG or NRT on S7 or one of the current OW airlines. Limited to BKK once weekly at the moment I believe. Somewhat better but still sparse from PEK.

Would be a useful way to see Lake Baikal or catch the transSiberian

Yes I'm waiting to sign up for an award seat....

Sounds like a plan. ASB can't be any more chaotic than TAS airport. Now to learn the language, figure out how to get a visa, etc etc

Some award seats on S7 already show up on BA.com. Anyone know of a better tool to search availability? I wander if you can try earning AA miles on S7 now. I fly them pretty reguralry to Ufa...

I would like to know as well, seeing that all my in-laws live in TAS.
