"Russia's S7 Airlines To Join oneworld
Russia's S7 Airlines will join oneworld, offering the alliance's full range of services, benefits and fares, during 2010. With a system that covers Russia and the CIS, S7 serves 72 destinations worldwide - 38 of them in Russia - and brings eight countries into the oneworld network - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
It will expand oneworld's network to nearly 750 destinations in almost 150 countries, served by a combined fleet of 2,300 aircraft operating almost 8,500 flights a day, and carrying more than 330 million passengers a year."
(My emphasis.) Given the systems rationalisation that must occur (computer, reservation, etc.) I'd not be terribly surprised at a delay of some kind. Maybe during 2011, we will be able to earn oneworld miles and benefit from oneworld perks on our visits to the 'stans.
Guess I'm not the only one mildly intrigued at visiting some obscure countries with AA miles

Thanks!
