Which is better: MX or BA?

I'm flying from MEX-LHR and I have the option of either the MX flight or the BA flight. Any opinions on which I should take?

I guess I mean in the sense of comfort, professionalism, similarities to AA, etc.

I mean it in the same way that one means it when they're voting for "Best Airline" in any of the numerous polls.

But now I have another question: I searched the BA website for award oneworld Partner availability and it's showing seats available for four people going from MEX-LHR, flight MX1594 on May 15. But when I call the EXP desk, they say it's not available. Anyone know why?

Are you sure MX flies to LHR? oneworld.com has them flying only to LGW. Perhaps this is the source of the unavailability?

You're right - it's LGW.

Both the MEX-LHR on BA is available and MEX-LGW on MX is available. There at almost the same time and I don't care which London airport I fly into.

I'm just looking for an opinion on MX long-haul vs. BA long-haul.

IT has been a while since I last flew on MX longhaul, but in terms of service and professionalism, they have been OK for a number of years. The 767s they fly use "pod" seating with less than flat recline.

For AAdvantage flyers, they offer bonus miles iirc, whereas BA doesn't. For some FTers, that would make the difference - for others, the BA Club World flat seats would.

In coach, MX offers 2-3-2 seating, but all coach is 7734.

really, I think you should just pick whichever airport is more convenient for your trip to LON. LGW is further from the city, but less hassles and better ground staff (IMHO).

If you are travelling in C, why on earth would you take Mexicana's very outdated J product? It's no contest: take BA!

If you are travelling in Y, Mexicana, like most Latin carriers, is known for having a very strong soft product in coach - it's a Latin thing.

MX's bar menu is a little more "fun," if you're into that. BA's is probably more refined, particularly in the front of the plane.

Do you prefer a 767 (MX) or 747 (BA)? I think BA has the better in-flight entertainment system on that route.

Unfortunately, I'm flying Y. I have three other people with me: my wife, my brother and his wife, and my brother and his wife are spending miles out of a 100,000-mile wedding gift his in-laws gave them. It would be a little cruel (although delicious) to sit in J while they're in Y.

It's good to know that MX has good a good Y cabin.

And I've never flown a 747 - that would be cool if I could sit on the upper deck, although I'm sure they don't have any Y seats up there.

I think I already know the answer, but any chance of getting a free upgrade on a reward ticket???

i got lucky with AA recently (I'm EP) and got my mother and daughter bumped up and they were on reward tix - having said that, i am sure that the Gate agent did us a complete favor and the plane was not full.

I have flown MX a few times recently and they never bump me up but typically give me exit row and the service with them is better than most airlines - especially in coach.

i would try and get exit row with MX...Safe travels!

Seems like you are booking an award using AA miles. Why not do MX one-way and BA on the return or vice versa?

I actually am doing BA through YUL on the way over. I guess doing MX on the way back would give me a taste of both. And then that way I could also hop over to Monterrey and visit my parents.
