Unfortunately, I'm flying Y. I have three other people with me: my wife, my brother and his wife, and my brother and his wife are spending miles out of a 100,000-mile wedding gift his in-laws gave them. It would be a little cruel (although delicious) to sit in J while they're in Y.
It's good to know that MX has good a good Y cabin.
And I've never flown a 747 - that would be cool if I could sit on the upper deck, although I'm sure they don't have any Y seats up there.
I think I already know the answer, but any chance of getting a free upgrade on a reward ticket???
i got lucky with AA recently (I'm EP) and got my mother and daughter bumped up and they were on reward tix - having said that, i am sure that the Gate agent did us a complete favor and the plane was not full.
I have flown MX a few times recently and they never bump me up but typically give me exit row and the service with them is better than most airlines - especially in coach.
i would try and get exit row with MX...Safe travels!
