changes to a DONE5 ex-icn

Not sure if best posted here or in AA, however...

I ticketed (AA in Canada) a DONE5 ex icn before the price increase. I need to make a change in routing and called the AA RTW desk. They tried to tell me a mistake had been made on the cost of my ticket (I was undercharged) they said they would honour it but I could make no changes even if date/time. I suspect they are mistaken (I paid around 7,700,000KRW) -they may have not realized that this was before the price increase or that it was ticketd in Canada. Anyway, in checking posts I noticed there was some debate as to whether ticket re-issue (for re-routing) done after the price increase would be done at the new prices (still a DONE5 and still under 16 segments). Has anyone any experience with this. Thanks

Just call back. The only difference in cost should be the $125 change fee and any new/additional taxes or fuel fines caused by your re-route.

It might be different if the first sector has not been flown.

Building on the post above, can you fly the first sector and then re-route? It would then be a clear-cut case...

Of course you can fly the first sector and then re-route. It should cost no more than usd 125 plus maybe differences in taxes/fuel fines.
The problem occurs when you change your first segment: regardless whether you change the rest of itinerary or not at all, if the prices have gone up since ticket issue, you are going to pay the difference.

I believe the rules have changed here this year: i have changed the first segment of an AONE4 and some other segments of the ticket, but ticketed points/stopovers etc remained the same, it was always just a date change. Basically, i had to postpone my ticket. There were no charges whatsoever then, but when i read the rules correctly now, i would have to pay if the fare would be higher now.

Update

Thanks for your replies..

I called AA RTW again and initially was told the same ie I would have to pay the current fare (there was information that had been added to my file). However, I asked if a supervisor could call me to confirm this. Anyway, apparently the agent decided to check into the ticketing herself and called me back later to say that I had received the wrong information and that I could re-route my ticket (it wasn't the first segment) and I would just have to pay the $125 change fee plus taxes etc. She was very helpful.

So the moral of the story don't always except what you're told by agents and if you think something is wrong try again.
