dropping a segment entirely.... invalidate?
Hi
I need to book a DONE4 fairly urgently for a buisness trip as follows:
LHR-SIN-SYD-AKL-SYD-BNE-SYD-LAX-LHR
there is a small possibility that I may not need to make the day trip from SYD-BNE-SYD, but won't know this for a few days and need to book the ticket first. If I don't end up wanting to go to BNE, can I cancel those two flights, or do the fare rules mean I HAVE to travel to BNE rtn in order for my subsequent flights to remain valid? My reading of the fare rules suggests it is all quite flexible, but don't want to have to find I need to do a silly flight to BNE and back just for the sake of it!
Any assistance gratefully accepted!

You can remove the SYD - BNE - SYD sectors after you have issued it - it will not invalidate the ticket. However, it will classify as a re-routing and as such you will have to pay $125.00 re-issue fee. As you will be cutting out sectors and remaining within your 4 continent rules there will be no additional charges to pay.

sadly I cannot. I need to rush back on the way back and only have a day to break the journey up each way, and would prefer to get a day in LA on the way back than use my time to go on too convoluted a routing. If I had more notice of the trip and more flexibility, I could have maxed out the points/miles, but I will still get a good number even so.

Do you need to return to Sydney after the expected trip to Brisbane or cab you do it at the end ; if so, perhaps just book as SYD-BNE-LAX and then whether you need to stop there or not, you can go through Brisbane with a minor detour without the need to reissue
