Jetstar: the On-Time Airline
Jetstar won't let you fly if you check in even a minute late, and then you have to fight fellow passengers for the plum seats. But at least the no-frills airline gets you to your destination on time.
The Qantas offshoot's strict "arrive late and you miss out" policy is paying off, the Federal Government's latest airline on-time running figures show. Jetstar was the most punctual domestic airline in June - the first full month it was in the air - with 92.5 per cent of flights departing on time and 94.5 per cent arriving on time.
Perth-based regional airline Skywest was the next most punctual, closely followed by QantasLink. Qantas was the worst performer, with 88.3 per cent of flights on time. Budget airline Virgin Blue was marginally better, with 88.9 per cent of flights arriving within 15 minutes of their scheduled time.
