Auckland (AKL) Airport Hotel?

I'm thinking of taking QF149 rather than QF147 to AKL. Due to the very late arrival, I'm thinking of spending the night at an airport hotel. I typically stay at Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, and Marriott hotels. If that's not an option, then guess I won't have a choice but to stay elsewhere. First, is there transit into the city center at that time of the day or it'll have to be a taxi? If not, what's a good-value hotel at or near AKL?

Novotel is most convenient being directly in front of intl terminal. Ibis budget is much cheaper but a 15 minute walk away (shuttle bus doesn't run that late and anyway costs $) or taxi (min fare $25?). There are several other "airport" hotels further away (taxi $35?) but much closer than central city.

I normally just stay in central city if not staying at novotel. At that hour the drive in is quick and most of the airport hotels are very expensive relative to quality.

Airport shuttle bus cost money?

So even if I arrive a bit earlier on QF147, taxi is the only realistic option to the city center? Probably NZ$40-$50?

I usually stay at the Holiday Inn and take the yellow bus from the terminal. Decent fish and chips at bar.

Yellow bus? (has a cost) -->https://www.aucklandairport.co.nz/tr...blic-transport
Chances of getting a 12:40 am (00:40) bus are near zero if arriving at 00:20 QF149

It was cheaper to rent a van and drive myself from/to AKL than take taxis last week. This is of course assuming that your hotel gives you free parking (which I somehow received through Expedia).

Novatel is fine. Ibis AKL Airpport is pretty terrible by most metrics. Naumi (across the road from the Holiday Inn) is nice, if you like Very Modern & Trying Too Hard. Holiday Inn is somewhat dated, but very consistent.

We usually stay at https://www.grandchancellorhotels.co...-auckland-city when we go to Auckland, even when we need to get the airport. We're creatures of habit, sure, but we've never had a good experience at any of the airport hotels, so we stick to what we know! Here, we know we can get a decent breakfast and catch a bus/uber to the airport easily.

has anybody tried Pullman that just opened in Dec 23 (recently)? Price differential to Novotel is mere 50-70 NZD/night (390 vs 330 sort of thing for random dates) and well within terminal precinct unlike Ibis. I'm after a room with bathtub, Novotel tells me "you can request" (seems like some room have and some don't) but Pullman website suggest only the suite have bathtubs.

For one night I would (and have, and will do again!) stay at the Novotel (or the new Pullman) as they are both SUPER convenient to the airport, so it takes all the hassle out of additional travel. Auckland Airport to downtown can be a real pain with traffic.
