beware using firefox browser to checkin

After spending a frustratin 1/2 hour attempting to check in for an itinerary containing both nw and delta flights, delta.com tech support finally revealed I cannot check in unless i use internet explorer. Even after using that outdated browser, delta.com did not recognize elite status and was not upgraded, nor is waitlist displayed. Cannot help response from both nwa and delta tech support. I can get better service from clowns at a carnival!

I am trying to modulate my criticism of DL. However, you comment is amusing, bringing back memories of going to the circus as a child. It conjures up an image of a very tiny car pulling up in front of Virginia Avenue, and the entire DL executive team piling out of it dressed in big red rubber ball noses, baggy pants, and enormously long shoes.

I had no problem sounds like an excuse on their part.

I have lots of issues with Firebomb but overall it seems the least obnoxious of the 3 browsers (FireFox, IE, Chrome) on my PC. The airline web sites that I use regularly (WN, CO, DL, NW, UA) all seem to work as well or better on FireFox.

It might be a good idea for the poster to uninstall/reinstall both FireFox & his Java engine if he has ongoing issues.

Have you kept your browser up to date (current version is 3.5.3) and set cookies etc properly.... after all the rest of us aren't having problems ....

and depending on what version of Explorer you're using, you may not have an 'outdated' product.

Yes, elite number was entered and showed on both websites. Upgrade shows on northwest metal on the return, just not on delta metal outbound, though first class is open. I can print boarding passes on delta, once reservation is located. Issue, per delta.com tech support, is that the link from a northwest site check-in screen to the delta site check-in on the linked reservation, does not work on safari or firefox. (My reference to the browser being outdated was simply my preference for the fast firefox.)

I just had exactly the same issue - flying EAU-MSP-ATL tomorrow with the second leg on DL and errorred out when I tried to check in on Firefox but worked OK in IE.

No hint of an upgrade yet as a NW plat. It does show 'Requested' for the upgrade when I look at the reservation at delta.com.

Note that if you have a 012 ticket with DL flights, you can use the confirmation number to look up your flights on DL.com and change seats etc for the DL flights that you can't change on NW.com.
