Why did some WorldPerks members receive bonus miles and others did not?
These bonus miles were provided to our most frequent WorldPerks passengers – WorldPerks Platinum and Gold Elites – to thank them for their loyalty and patience as we merge the two programs. Specifically, these members may experience the most inconvenience as we merge our two programs together – WorldPerks Platinum Elites will experience a reduced Companion clearance window, and both WorldPerks Platinum and Gold Elites will be unable to upgrade on an Award Ticket until sometime in 2010, when it will be reinstated in the SkyMiles program.

Rather than force us to use our linked numbers, DL should really allow us to choose either our DL number or the new quasi-NW number that DL will create. Short of forcing us to close our Dl accounts, which some have done here, that would be a good way to allow frequent travelers an opportunity to still keep the new number memorized.

Whats happening with Elite Companion Upgrades?
First, we are NOT taking away companion upgrades for Platinum Elites. Were modifying the Platinum Elite upgrade clearance window to mirror the existing SkyMiles window and adding unlimited, complimentary companion upgrades for Silver and Gold WorldPerks Elites. These companion upgrades will be available on Delta and Northwest flights and will clear for Elite members within 12 hours of departure, if available, after all Elites traveling alone have been cleared. In other words, upgrades for both the Elite member and the companion will clear within 12 hours if they are booked in the same passenger record and an upgrade is available. Thanks!

The bonus SMI mentioned is 5000 bank mile bonus posted this week, and yes, I (Japan based PE) got this too.

But I really appreciate DL/NW if Asian based members could get 5k-15k EQM gift...

Wow. I return from a week of burning UA miles
and & find this thread here & some great news from CO. DL just keeps striking out.
The Ministry of Disinformation on Virginia Ave. appears to be turning in a lot of overtime hours.
and & find this thread here & some great news from CO. DL just keeps striking out. This is complete BS. You ARE taking away Platinum companion upgrades by not confirming at the 5-day window. 12 hours? By then, most all FC seats are GONE. Please don't try to claim you are keeping the benefit by expanding it to those that never had it, at a window 4 days after Platinums had it. This is extortion and PR of the worst kind. Go back to wherever you came from, please. Geez.

This is why I didn't link to my old DL account so hopefully I have the option of choosing after I see what they did to my WP number.

Trust me, I am very happy about this--for a couple of reasons.
More upgrades for me, AND upgrades for another traveler (on flights where FC would go out empty).
I was never quite sure why it made sense that a WorldPerks general member could get an upgrade before a Silver or Gold... true that general member was attached to a Plat, but it just doesn't seem to be in the spirit of traditional airline status where an individual earns it and an individual gets the benefits (other than token stuff like waived bag fees). I wonder if Gold/Silver upgrade rates will rise significantly as a result of this change?

Why do I keep coming back to read all the bad news in this fourm.
What a bunch of bull they keep feeding us.
All I can say is RIP Worldperks as it is now "worldJERKS" running the "scarememiles" program.

Because it was not a benefit for the person w/o status; rather it was a benefit for the Platinum who had earned the privilege of having his or her companion upgraded.
