Planes will likely stay in NA. If not, they fly point to point. Occasionaly they have extra fuel tanks.

They will fly bak to Sweden, the same way they came to the states. They'll go via Canada, Iceland and then into Sweden. This is of course, saab doesn't remarket them here in the states.

They'll probably ferry to Kingman, Arizona (IGM) where Saab has parked much of the American Eagle fleet that was returned to them.

SF3 flights into PAH were just reduced from 4x to 2x, and DL filed a termination notice with the FAA unless they get a $1M a year EAS contract to continue the 2 flights. UA has bid $570k for the same contract, so it looks like we'll be getting UA CRJ's at this point.

Interesting to note that PAH has never had a EAS contract and the NW flights are always oversold.

Well, I once looked out the window of my hotel room in Reykavik (located at the old domestic airport) and was surprised to see a Mesaba Saab (remember the checkerboard taxi theme?) parked outside my window.

Yes, they travel accross, probably Sweden-Scotland-Ireland-Iceland-Greenland-Canada etc..

Incorrect. Its 5 during the weekday and on sat its 4 and sunday its 3 flights.... On October 19th, I'll be taking use of this rather nice connection. STC recently upgraded its terminal and is the process of adding one jetway capable of supporting SF3 up to B738/A32x. STC has a wide area to pull from that would rather prefer no to drive to MSP or to BRD. BRD is EAS...right? However, STC has never been operated EAS.

I am not here to argue with you but here is what I see on a random weekday in Oct:

Thu Oct 15
NW3125 MSPSTC1020A 1108A SF3* 0
NW3252 MSPSTC 337P 420P SF3* 0
NW3256 MSPSTC1020P 1106P SF3* 0

Same shows every other date I checked, even into next summer. If you want to disagree, fine. Please state your source.

Well only Delta knows the inside scoop on the Saab numbers. Perhaps NW really took Saab to the mat during BK; and Saab sought to get well during the lease renegotiation?

This was a strategic decision by Delta. Perhaps Delta got greedy and sought additional government subsidy for the captive NW markets. I've heard some rumors that the EAS bidding is not going well for Delta.

Thankfully it appears that other carriers are stepping forward to assume the Delta (Mesaba)flying (which some purport to be comparitively juicy) under EAS.

Heres the sched. ex STC: (From stc website....however some of the times have been moved around lately.)

Departures

Flight Departs From Arrives
3249 6:30 AM STC 7:17 AM at MSP
3253 11:31 AM STC 12:19 PM at MSP
3247 4:41 PM STC 5:32 PM at MSP
3225 6:40 PM STC 7:31 PM at MSP

Flight 3247 and Flight 3225 do not operate on Saturdays

(however the same # of arrivals are held inbound) Sunday both RON a/c do the next days first two dep flights on Sunday. Sundays I usually see at least two saabs in STC at the same time at one point in the day.

Arrivals

Flight Departs From Arrives
3125 10:25 AM MSP 11:11 AM at STC
3252 3:35 PM MSP 4:21 PM at STC
3210 5:25 PM MSP 6:11 PM at STC
3256 10:20 PM MSP 11:06PM at STC

One reason why one of the flghts rarely shows up on fare availability is that it is supposedly always notoriously booked solid/oversold, which is the NW3210 from my list MSP-STC ..same is true for NW3225 STC-MSP

Well, we will have to agree to disagree on this one. Every BOOKABLE source I have checked only shows THREE departures/arrivals in STC per day. I guess any website can post anything they want. So many people believe everything they read on websites (not just the STC website - in general - I see this over and over again). And even if what you posted were true, four departures is not five.

Try booking NW3210 MSP-STC with the 5.25pm departure and let me know what you come up with for a date and price. Same with NW3225 STC-MSP

I stand by my posts.

John

Yep, and remember that it was just a few years ago that that short EAU-MSP route was serviced by CRJs as well as Saabs...

I wonder what will happen to the Memphis-Tupelo-Muscle Shoals route when the Saabs go away. I doubt it could support a CRJ.
